England Academy international pens three-year deal

Salford City Reds teenager Jonathan Ford has agreed a three-year deal with the Stobart Super League club. The 18-year-old centre, who is now training with the club's first team, is an England Academy international. Director of Football Steve Simms is expecting the youngster to make the grade at Super League level.

Exciting prospect

Simms told the club's official website: "Jon is one of the most exciting prospects in the game and we are hugely delighted to have agreed this three-year deal. "We can now continue to develop the player, who has come through a fantastic year so far for our juniors. Super League is beckoning for Jon if he continues to progress the way we expect over the next couple of seasons." Head of Youth Development Alan Hunte continued: "This is great news for our Youth Department. "Jon has been with us for four years since Under-15 level and we always thought he had the potential to be a Super League player and this helps him get one step nearer to that."
