Wakefield Trinity have signed utility back Ryan Hampshire on a one-year deal.

The Wakefield-born 22-year-old, who has Super League experience with Wigan Warriors and Castleford Tigers, was on the books of Leigh last season.

Hampshire could make his debut on Boxing day when Trinity play Leeds Rhinos in a friendly at Belle Vue, which is expected to feature three new Rhinos signings - Richie Myler, Nathaniel Peteru and Brad Dwyer.

Hampshire told the club's official website: "I am really excited to be able to represent the club that I have followed since I was a young boy, and it has come a lot earlier than expected.

"It has been a long off season for me, waiting to get something sorted."
