Wakefield have signed winger Kevin Penny on a two-year deal following the departure of Damien Blanch to Catalans Dragons.
Kear confident winger can fulfill his potential with Wildcats
Wakefield have continued to add to their squad with the signing of Warrington winger Kevin Penny on a two-year deal.
The arrival of the 22-year-old will help fill the void left by Damien Blanch's departure to engage Super League rivals Catalans Dragons.
Penny was named in the 2007 Super League Dream Team after a stunning debut season that saw him score 13 tries in his first 13 starts.
However he quickly fell out of the first-team picture at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and made five appearances for Harlequins on loan this year.
Natural athlete
"Kevin is a natural athlete who is blessed with real pace," Wildcats coach John Kear said. "As Damien Blanch has moved on we need a main strike player and Kevin can fill that role for us.
"Kevin fits into the policy we've adopted here at Wakefield of signing young British players who have something to prove and the hunger to do well in the sport.
"He is an exciting player who has already proved that he can score tries at the highest level of the British game and we believe he can become a real favourite with our fans."
Penny is Wakefield's fourth new recruit for 2011, following the arrivals of Salford half-back Jeremy Smith, Hull KR second rower Frankie Mariano and Featherstone centre Jesse Joe Parker at the Yorkshire club.
