Warrington forward Ben Westwood faces around a month on the sidelines after coach Tony Smith revealed the England veteran needs ankle surgery.
Westwood is due to serve a one-match ban when Warrington host Wakefield on Friday, but Smith says the 34-year-old would have missed the visit of the Wildcats regardless.
"He's got a little floating bone in his ankle so will have an operation on Wednesday on that," Smith said.
"He'll be out for the best part of a month, so we lose one but hopefully welcome back three this week."
England utility back Stefan Ratchford, new signing Mitchell Dodds and Wales prop Ben Evans are all due to make their comebacks from injury in a reserve match this week.
