Warrington Wolves to sign Bryson Goodwin instead of Leigh

Leigh have accepted a "substantial" offer from Warrington for New Zealand international Bryson Goodwin.
Goodwin was due to join the Centurions for the 2018 season after agreeing a two-year contract in June, but following Leigh's relegation - and Peta Hiku's departure from Warrington - the Wolves have swooped to land the 31-year-old outside back.
"Once I was aware that Bryson had strong interest from a safe Super League club and would take that option should we get relegated I took the decision to accept a very strong and lucrative offer from Warrington," Leigh owner Derek Beaumont said.
Goodwin arrives from South Sydney Rabbitohs where he made 99 appearances, scoring 37 tries, and was part of the squad that was crowned NRL champions in 2014.
He has won 10 caps for New Zealand and was an ever-present as the Kiwis reached the 2013 World Cup final.
"I've only heard really good things about Warrington from past players who have played at the club," said Goodwin.
"I also spoke to Sam Burgess and he only had good words to say too. Everyone knows it's a big club and I'm looking forward to joining.
"I really like the Super League; I've been watching a lot of it recently since I signed over there and from what I've seen it's a really good competition and is getting better and better every year. The quality is high and am looking forward to playing in it."
Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick added: "We spoke to Bryson earlier in the year and have been aware of his abilities for some time.
"When we lost Peta we approached Leigh with an offer and fortunately they accepted.
"Bryson has got outstanding leadership qualities both off and on the pitch and will be a real asset to the team and culture we want to create.
"His reputation in the NRL is first class and with his international experience he'll add real value to the club."
