Warrington forward Ben Currie has agreed a new four-year contract with the Super League club.

The 20-year-old second rower, an ever-present this season, is now committed to the Super League club until the end of the 2019 season.

Currie, who can also play centre, has made 76 appearances and scored 31 tries since making his Wolves debut in 2012.

I am sure one day he will be leading the team out as a captain of this great club

The Ireland World Cup player said: "I'm really happy with the deal. It was good of Warrington to come in early before my contract's finished.

"I'm still a young lad and I don't want to look anywhere else. I'm really happy at Warrington at the moment so I am glad to commit my future here for the next four years."

Wolves coach Tony Smith, who gave Currie his first-team chance, believes the player is a potential future captain.

Smith said: "Ben's an outstanding young professional and he is really finding his feet in the team. He's had great consistency this year.

"I have been quoted in the past talking about his leadership and his potential and I am sure one day he will be leading the team out as a captain of this great club."
