Black and Whites expected to announce a new signing soon
Hull have released half-back Sam Obst from the final year of his contract.
The 30-year-old Australian joined the Airlie Birds from Wakefield on a two-year deal after the opening game of the 2011 season and made 25 appearances.
However, he does not figure in the plans of new coach Peter Gentle and has become a free agent after agreeing a termination of his contract.
Hull director of rugby Shaun McRae said: "We would like to thank Sam for his service this year on and off the field and wish him well in his future career."
With room on both their salary cap and overseas quota, Hull are expected to announce a new signing within the next 24 hours.
