Hull FC have swooped to sign Wigan youngster Matthew Russell on an initial loan after the sudden departure of full-back Wade McKinnon .

Hull have moved quickly to plug the gap caused by the sudden departure of full-back Wade McKinnon with the capture of Wigan youngster Matthew Russell.
The 18-year-old Russell, who made his Super League debut in Wigan's shock defeat at Widnes in March, has joined the Black and Whites initially on a month's loan and could make his debut in Saturday's clash with champions Leeds at the KC Stadium.
"This is a good chance for me to impress and I'm really happy to be out gaining some Super League experience," said Russell, who met his new team-mates for the first time at training today.
"To be able to do that at a big club like Hull FC, it doesn't come any better than that and I can't wait to play.
"I've got a lot to prove but I'm here to do my best and stay as long as I can."
Russell, who has also played on a dual-registration with Championship club Leigh this year, will be a short-term replacement for McKinnon, whose departure left the Hull without a specialist full-back.
Eye-catching player
Hull director of rugby Shaun McRae said: "Matthew is a player that has caught the eye of a number of clubs in recent seasons, which has continued now he has made the step up into the first team.
"He is still quite raw and has a lot to learn but he has real talent and he now has the chance to come to Hull and show us exactly what he is capable of.
"It will be a great learning curve for him and at the same time will give us another option at the back following the departure of Wade McKinnon."
Wigan rugby general manager Kris Radlinski said: "Joining Hull FC on loan for a month is a tremendous opportunity for Matty to gain some valuable first-team match experience."
Hull announced earlier today that McKinnon has left the club for personal reasons, just six months into a three-year contract.
The 31-year-old, who joined Hull from Wests Tigers in the winter, sought a release after failing to settle in east Yorkshire and will return home to Australia to be with his family.
In a statement, McKinnon said: "I have really enjoyed playing with the team during my time in Hull and have made some really good friends here.
"I would like to wish them and the club the best of luck for the remainder of the season.
"I would like to thank everyone for their support at Hull FC during my time at the club, as well as Peter Gentle and Shaun McRae for their understanding of the situation and allowing me to return home."
