Huddersfield assistant coach Kieron Purtill will leave the Super League club at the end of the season and rejoin his hometown team Leigh on a two-year contract.
Purtill has been assistant coach for two spells at both St Helens and Huddersfield after his playing career at Leigh was ended prematurely by a shoulder injury in 2002.
The former scrum-half will work alongside Centurions head coach Neil Juke and admitted he was delighted to return to his roots at Leigh.
"The overwhelming feeling I have is that I am coming back to the club I call home," he said.
"Living in the town, I am passionate about the club and Derek's drive, investment and vision made a compelling reason to come back.
"In the meantime, I'll be looking to finish the season as strongly as we can with Huddersfield Giants and we have aspirations in the Challenge Cup and the Super 8s that we want to fulfil."
The experienced coach has also worked with the England Knights and Canada national team.
Leigh owner Derek Beaumont was delighted to welcome Purtill back to the club and believes his experience in Super League will help the side move forward towards the top of the game.
"Adding Kieron to the team is a clear indication of our intentions to progress to become a competitive Super League club," he said.
