Wigan silent on Maguire talk

Deacon set to return for Hull KR trip

Wigan coach Michael Maguire has refused to comment on speculation linking him with a move to South Sydney. The Rabbitohs have set their sights on the Australian as the successor to veteran head coach John Lang for 2012, after missing out on Wayne Bennett. It is thought Souths could announce the capture of Maguire on a three-year contract later this week. But Maguire refused to answer questions on his future at Tuesday's press conference and Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "I have no comment to make." Souths had made Bennett their number one target but the former Brisbane, Queensland and Australia coach has agreed instead to join Newcastle Knights, when his current deal with St George Illawarra runs out at the end of the season. Maguire, who last year guided Wigan to their first Super League title for 12 years at the first attempt, initially joined the Warriors on a two-year contract with an option for a third season.

Team news

Meanwhile, Warriors stand-off Paul Deacon is set to return for Friday's trip to Hull KR. Deacon has missed the last four games due to a head injury. Maguire will also be able to recall Jeff Lima after the Kiwi prop served a one-match suspension, while Liam Farrell and Amos Roberts - dropped last Friday for the surprise home defeat by Catalan Dragons - may be set to return. That means injured props Stuart Fielden and Eamon O'Carroll are the only absentees from Maguire's squad, with winger Pat Richards coming through unscathed from his first appearance of the season following an Achilles injury. "Both Paul and Liam should be okay this week and, of course, we also have Jeff back, so apart from Stu and Eamon everyone else is fit for Friday," Maguire said.
