Wales forward Larne Patrick will return to parent club Huddersfield Giants upon completion of his loan to Wigan Warriors.

The 26-year-old joined the Warriors for the 2015 season and has made 25 appearances, 19 as a substitute.

Wigan announced on Wednesday that the Wales international will head back to the John Smith's Stadium at the end of the season to see out the remainder of his contract.

Head coach Shaun Wane said: "Larne has been good for us this year and it has been a difficult decision.

"With him still being under contract with Huddersfield for next season, we would have had to have paid a fee to bring him in on a permanent basis and probably moved one or two people around to fit him in under the salary cap.

"After discussions with our rugby director Kris Radlinski we have decided not to do that at this time.

"We're not short of options in the second-row with Joel Tomkins, Liam Farrell and John Bateman all quality players.

"Connor Farrell is knocking on the door now with junior player Nick Gregson, and Greg Burke will be back with us next season too.

"Larne has been great for us and we are happy that it worked out.

"We're thankful for all of Larne's effort in the Wigan shirt. Like the rest of the team, Larne's focus now is on the end of season run-in and helping the team get to the Grand Final."
