England forward Elliott Whitehead has been cleared of serious injury after being taken to hospital having been knocked out during the Catalans Dragons' 14-12 defeat by Huddersfield Giants.
The Dragons star, an ever-present in Super League this year, was carried from the field on a stretcher after being knocked out just three minutes into Saturday's match in Perpignan.
Catalans said the former Bradford back rower, who is to join Canberra Raiders at the end of the season, underwent scans at the local hospital that night and was released after a few hours.
The Dragons led 12-6 before Huddersfield came back to win to take a big step towards a top-four finish. They also inflicted only the second home defeat in 2015 on the Dragons.
Whitehead, a product of the Bradford academy, scored 18 tries in 27 appearances during an excellent 2014 campaign to earn a call-up for England in the Rugby League Four Nations series, making his debut against New Zealand.
