Businessman planning to invest in players and facilities
An Egyptian-born businessman has agreed a deal to plough more than £1million into Super League club Hull KR, according to reports.
Assem Allam, the multi-millionaire owner of Hull City, will hand over a seven-figure sum for immediate investment into both players and the facilities at Craven Park but won't take any shareholding or position at the club.
"I am more than happy to help Rovers with their plans to deliver a top-class sporting venue in the east of the city," Allam told the
Hull Daily Mail.
Committed
"I am fully committed to raising sport standards in the city and provide top-quality facilities for fans of all ages."
The cash boost comes at a time when Rovers are about to appoint developers for a new £6.5m North Stand, which will add 2,600 seats to Craven Park. Work is due to start later this summer.
Allam was a special guest of the Robins at Sunday's win over Bradford.
The Allams, reported in the
Sunday Times Rich List to have a family worth of £287m, bought Hull City last December, saving the club from possible administration with a £40m investment.
