Challenge Cup finalists Hull KR have handed Ben Cockayne a contract extension that could take him through to his 10th season with the club.

The former Wakefield player, who was out of contract at the end of the season, has signed a new one-year deal with a further 12-month option that could keep him at the KC Lightstream Stadium until the end of 2017.

Cockayne, 32, now in his second spell with the Robins having been a member of the side that won promotion to Super League in 2006, has scored 68 tries in 180 appearances since re-joining them from the Wildcats at the start of last season.
