Wondering heights

Image: Monaghan; could be the main man for Wolves

Stevo is full of wonder as the best two sides in Super League go head-to-head on Sunday.

Battle of the big boys excites Stevo

I wonder, I wonder, I wonder. That is what is going through everyone's mind no matter if you are a Wigan fan, a Warrington fan or a fan of this great game of ours. Everyone is wondering what sort of classic game these two will deliver on Sunday. Warrington went to Wigan in Round Seven and thrashed them 20 points to six. One up, one to play and maybe another confrontation at the end of the play-offs. Both have got to be favourites to get to the Grand Final at Old Trafford. Will Warrington's fortnight off give them the edge? I think it will. They are already playing at home so that will be an advantage. Wigan have not had the rest and they played a tough game in the Challenge Cup final against Leeds. Will Wigan have celebrated far too hard and far too long? I wonder, I wonder, I wonder. Will Michael Maguire have given them two or three days off to recuperate or did he have them in early to burn the celebratory champagne out of their system. Will the Wigan players be taking any injury into the game after Leeds? I wonder if this game will be a classic. I think it will. Two teams in top form, two coaches who think they are the best and why not? Both have had silverware on the trophy cabinet and know what it is like. Trouble is the Wolves cabinet is empty now - two years of success in the Challenge Cup, they don't want that to be the case at the end of the season. For Wigan will Sam Tomkins is quality, but I think they will be looking toward Thomas Leuluai to steer them around a little bit more and take the pressure of Tomkins. Warrington will try and get hold of him and I don't think we will see him doing any weaving down the middle. He won't want to run into the Warrington forwards. STAR MAN: It has to be the hooker Michael Monaghan. Everyone keeps on telling me that Sam Tomkins has the Man of Steel award wrapped up, but let's not forget Monaghan who has been fantastic. If he clicks, and he has the tendency to hit his straps when the pressure is on, then he will be the main man. STEVO SAYS: I think Warrington will win. This is the biggest weekend of Super League outside the playoffs and it will be a great battle. It will be a fantastic clash but I think Warrington will just have the edge.
