Castleford back-row forward Junior Moors is facing a six-week injury lay-off after undergoing surgery on a hand he damaged in their 22-18 Super League defeat at St Helens.

The Tigers' first defeat of the season came at a heavy cost, with stand-off Ben Roberts and prop Grant Millington also sustaining injuries that will rule them out of Sunday's home game against Salford.

"Junior has had an operation on his hand and he will be out for potentially six weeks which is a tough one to take because he's been playing really well," said Tigers' coach Daryl Powell.

"Ben Roberts has got a foot injury that is not a break which is good news but he has a ligament tear. We are not really sure on the severity but it is not as bad as it could have been.

"Grant Millington hyperextended his elbow and again there is no break in there but there is a rupture of a ligament which is not great.
