Prop's new deal keeps him at Castleford until end of 2014 season
Castleford have headed off interest from rival clubs in promising prop forward Jonathan Walker by handing him a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of 2014.
The 21-year-old is the latest of the Tigers' home-grown talents to commit his future to the club, following the example of his former academy team-mates Jordan Thompson, Nathan Massey, Oliver Holmes, Richard Owen, Adam Milner and Daryl Clark.
"He was keenly pursued by numerous other clubs and I'm glad to have got him," said head coach Ian Millward.
"It is hard to find English front-rowers with good size and the kind of presence that Johnny has. He has all the attributes to become a top quality Super League player and a future international."
