New Zealand centre Steve Matai will miss the Four Nations tournament after being banned for seven games

Kiwi handed longest NRL ban of the season

New Zealand centre Steve Matai will miss the Four Nations tournament after being banned for seven games. The Manly back admitted a grade three reckless high tackle on Michael Ennis during the Sea Eagles' defeat to Canterbury Bulldogs on Sunday. The seven-game suspension is the longest handed out to an NRL player this season. It rules the 26-year-old out of the NRL play-offs and the Four Nations. Matai made his debut for the Kiwis in 2006 and has won 11 caps. New Zealand get their Four Nations campaign under way against England on October 23 in Wellington.
