Challenge Cup quarter-final draw: Hull FC to face Catalans
Sunday 8 May 2016 20:41, UK
High-flying Super League sides Hull FC and Catalans Dragons have been drawn against each other in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
The two clubs have been in scintillating form this season - second and third in the Super League and tied on 18 points with nine wins from 13 games - but Hull ended Catalans' seven-match winning streak last week.
Hull produced another dominant performance to crush St Helens 47-18 in the sixth-round tie at Langtree Park on Sunday, with prop Scott Taylor scoring twice and scheming half-back Marc Sneyd kicking seven goals from nine attempts, as well as a drop goal.
Catalans, meanwhile, booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 40-4 victory over part-timers Batley Bulldogs.
Hull coach Lee Radford is delighted with his side's pairing and expects it to be a more open affair than last week's error-strewn league clash with the French club.
"It's a mouth-watering fixture," Radford said. "We played them last week and it was a terrible game to watch but I think this will live up to expectations with so much at stake."
Catalans were runners-up in the first final to be played at the re-developed national stadium in 2007 while Hull's defeat by Wigan in 2013 preserved their unwanted record of never having won at Wembley.
Super League leaders Warrington will meet neighbours Widnes. The Wolves, who have done the double over the Vikings in Super League this season, will have home advantage in the tie.
Huddersfield's reward for knocking out holders Leeds is a home tie against Wakefield while Castleford visit Wigan.
The tie at the DW Stadium is a repeat of the 2014 quarter-final in which Castleford beat Wigan on their way to Wembley, where they suffered a 23-10 loss to Leeds.
