Pleased by second-half display at Belle Vue
Hull FC coach Peter Sharp feels his side are hitting peak form at the right time after they beat Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 42-24 at Belle Vue on Friday evening.
The result is a sixth win in seven games and consolidates Hull's hold on fourth place in the engage Super League, three points ahead of the Wildcats.
Hull came from 24-16 down at half-time, scoring five of their seven tries after the break on the way to an impressive success.
"We had a nice second-half," said Sharp. "We were a bit soft in the first I thought, but we muscled up and were a bit more direct. We toughed it out.
"As I've said all along we're trying to play a bit better and I think we're doing that. If we can do that the results will happen, the rest will take care of itself.
"They (Wakefield) had us done for a dinner in the first-half and we had to address that at half-time. They had a bit of whack in them and we certainly improved."
Kear not impressed
Wakefield coach John Kear was unhappy with referee Phil Bentham's display, suggesting the official needs to 'look at his performance'.
The Wildcats had three players sent to the sin-bin, including both Olivier Elima and Adam Watene for separate offences in the 67th minute, opening the door for Hull to seal the win with three tries in six minutes.
"I think that the biggest influence of the game wasn't the players," said Kear.
"I don't want to say too much because I don't want fining. But I hope he looks at his performance.
"I thought we were very good in the first 40 minutes and I thought Hull went more direct in the second and took full advantage of circumstances.
"I thought we lost our composure a little but I think there might be underlying reasons for that."
