Catalans Dragons star John Wilson is eager to make up for his past disappointment, in the Carnegie Challenge Cup final on Saturday.
The Australian centre scored the second try in the French club's shock 37-24 semi-final victory over Wigan Warriors at the end of July.
Mick Potter's side then went on to beat a weakened St Helens side 21-0 in Super League on August 11, in a dress rehearsal for Wembley.
Having finished bottom of the league in their first year in the top flight, the former West Tigers three-quarter admits the cup run has come as a welcome surprise.
"I came here to just try and help the club succeed in Super League - that was a real focus for me - and last year was my first introduction to the Challenge Cup," he said.
"We didn't have that much success then, but this year it's been an incentive for myself and all the boys to really step up on the big stage and show people what we can do.
"It's a different competition to Super League and we seem to be able to lift ourseleves for it."
Motivation
The 29-year-old is driven further by his disappointment missing out on the NRL Grand Final with West Tigers in 2005.
"I was there as 18th man unfortunately and that is as close I suppose as anyone could get. So I'm looking forward to being out there on the field this time," he continued.
"Everyone knows playing at the new Wembley against the champions is going to be awesome."
His compatriot and Catalans team-mate Casey McGuire could now make a surprise comeback to the squad meanwhile.
The the former Brisbane Bronco is set for a late fitness test on his pectoral injury, despite lacking contact training.
