Warrington's Vinnie Anderson has been added to New Zealand's squad for their British tour.
Siblings in Kiwi squad but star Williams expected to miss tour
Warrington loose forward Vinnie Anderson has been called into New Zealand's train-on squad for their tour of Great Britain.
Anderson returned to action for the Wolves on Friday after a six-week injury absence and has been rewarded with an immediate recall to the national squad.
The 28-year-old was called up by new Kiwi national coach Gary Kemble and will be joined in the squad by his younger brother Louis, the New Zealand Warriors utility forward who will move to Warrington next season.
Kemble has added 11 players in all, including controversial hooker Nathan Fien, who was at the centre of the 'grannygate' row a year ago.
Williams to miss out
Canterbury Bulldogs forward Sonny Bill Williams has also been called up, but is unlikely to feature in the three-Test series after sustaining a spiral fracture in his right forearm at the weekend.
Williams will consult a specialist to determine the extent of the fracture and whether he requires surgery to insert a plate and is expected to be ruled out of the tour.
Fien, 28, the former Queensland State of Origin hooker was ruled ineligible to play for New Zealand during last year's Tri-Nations Series after already having appeared in two Tests for the Kiwis.
The ruling came after it was revealed that his great-grandmother, and not his grandmother as required, was New Zealand-born and the Kiwis were docked two points.
However, Fien, 28, will be eligible to turn out for the Kiwis' next Test, against Australia in Wellington on October 14, because he has lived in Auckland for the past three years.
Kemble did not expect any negative reaction to the Queensland-born Fien's inclusion in the squad.
"At the end of the day, the rules and regulations are set in place by the International Rugby League Federation and we abide by those rules," he said.
"We will select any players available under those rules if they are the best available."
Two Super League-bound players, Paul Whatuira (Huddersfield) and Jake Webster (Hull KR), were among the initial 18-strong batch of players named in the train-on squad.
Player additions: Louis Anderson, Nathan Fien, Lance Hohaia, Epalahame Lauaki, Simon Mannering, Sam Rapira, Evarn Tuimavave (all NZ Warriors); Ben Roberts, Matt Utai, Sonny Bill Williams (Canterbury Bulldogs); Vinnie Anderson (Warrington).
