Wallabies forward ready to recreate role of Dally Messenger
Less than a week after helping Australia hammer New Zealand, Steve Price is hoping to help a Kiwi side to victory on Saturday night.
The prop was part of the Australia side that recorded a 58-0 thrashing in the one-off Test in Wellington last Sunday.
However, Price is now set to line up alongside the same players he helped destroy last weekend, as he plays for the All Golds against the Northern Union.
The New Zealand Warriors star will recreate the role of the legendary Dally Messenger, who was part of the inaugural tour to Britain in 1907, in the centenary Test, which is
live on Sky Sports.
Strange feeling
"It was a strange feeling, playing against the Kiwis on Sunday and then at seven the next morning getting dressed in the All Golds outfit and jumping on the Kiwi bus to the airport," he said.
"It's something no one is ever going to experience and certainly from my perspective I'm very honoured.
"It's very, very unusual and I'm going to enjoy every moment."
The All Golds, a mixture of past, present and future Kiwi internationals, will be looking to get off to a winning start on their European tour.
After the centenary Test, New Zealand take on Great Britain in a three-match series before finishing in Paris with a clash against France.
Price is looking forward to seeing the Kiwis take on the Lions and is predicting a tight battle between two evenly matched teams.
Exciting
"It's very exciting from an Australian perspective," he said. "As a spectator, I can't wait for the first game. I think it will be very close.
"It's a very young New Zealand squad. With Ruben Wiki, Nigel Vagana and Stacey Jones retiring from rep footie and it's a big hole that's been left but it's given a lot of young guys with an opportunity to step up.
"I think Great Britain have got a good mix of some experience as well as some great young players and I don't think there will be too much between them.
"It's going to depend who has the least injuries and which shows the most consistency throughout the series."
