Forward signs new deal at Headingley

Forward Carl Ablett has signed a new one-year contract with Super League champions Leeds. The deal means the Rhinos have now signed up every member of their 2007 title-winning squad for next season. The 21-year-old Ablett, who had a loan spell with London Broncos in 2005, played the last seven matches of the season, culminating in the Old Trafford Grand Final victory over St Helens. Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington said: "This is an acknowledgement of the progress Carl has made. He got an opportunity mid-way through the season and took it with both hands." Ablett has undergone shoulder surgery since the Grand Final but is expected to be available for the Boxing Day friendly with Wakefield.
