Rabbitohs free prop to complete switch to UK

Hull FC have agreed a two-year deal with Peter Cusack after South Sydney agreed to release the prop. The 30-year-old had another 12 months to run on his contract at the NRL club, however the Rabbitohs have decided not to stand in the way of him finishing his career in England. Rabbitohs director of football operations Shane Richardson said: "We spoke to Peter about six weeks ago regarding his and our plans for the future and we didn't want him to miss a window of opportunity of going to the UK to finish his career if he so desired." Cusack played a key role in leading South Sydney to their first NRL finals appearance in 18 years having been the club's co-captain. However he is now looking forward to his new challenge at the KC Stadium. He added on the Rabbitohs' official website: "I'm really happy with how this has all worked out and I'm thankful that the Rabbitohs have allowed me to negotiate a new contract.

Help

"I want to thank JT (coach Jason Taylor) and Richo (Richardson) for their help in all of this. "They haven't put me under any pressure and they've allowed me to make my own decision." Hull have moved to sign Cusack after Samoan prop Hutch Maiava was sacked for disciplinary issues. Maiava has been involved in two disciplinary procedures resulting from "off-the-field" incidents in the last five months. Chief executive James Rule told the Hull Daily Mail: "Naturally when looking at any disciplinary issue you have to be very thorough and careful, ensuring you have all the facts. "We have done this, but I don't think it would be fair to comment on the specific incidents. We decided Hutch's actions constituted gross misconduct. "After an internal investigation and disciplinary process, it was decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect. But, yes it was a difficult decision."
