Pat Richards wants Wigan to establish their credentials early this season
Wigan Warriors will be looking to hit the ground running in their Super League opener against Harlequins on February 9.
Versatile Wigan back Pat Richards emerged from Chris Ashton's shadow last season to proving his quality with the boot and ball in hand.
He scored 16 tries and kicked 129 goals, plus two drop goals, last season as Wigan made their way into the final play-off eliminator against Leeds Rhinos.
After the heartbreak of missing out to the eventual Super League Grand Final winners though, Richards wants an improvement this season starting with the trip to Quins.
Richards told the club's website: "Hopefully we will start the season well, that's in our control. We want to get a good start and get some points on the board.
"I'm working hard on my goal kicking and hopefully I can hit them as well as last year, if not better this year.
"It's always a tough trip down to London, they are a very good team. But it's all about our start and we're all looking forward to that London game."
