Toronto Wolfpack sign forwards Shaun Pick and Luke Menzies

Toronto Wolfpack have signed former Featherstone second-row forward Shaun Pick following his completion of a two-year drugs ban.

The Pontefract-born player was just 21 when he tested positive for metabolites of the anabolic steroid oxymetholone following an out-of-competition test in November 2014 and was suspended by UK Anti-Doping until December 10, 2016.

Pick, who made 13 appearances for Featherstone after joining them from Huddersfield, including their 2014 Championship Grand Final defeat by Leigh, is now set to make his comeback with the Canadian outfit, who are preparing for their entry into the Kingstone Press League 1 in March.

"Speaking to Shaun, he committed to making this a positive experience and taking this opportunity with both hands," said Toronto head coach Paul Rowley.

"Our staff did our homework on Shaun as with all our players to make sure we got our man with a clear focus on achieving our goals.

"The staff and I look forward to working with this young man and providing clear and honest guidance, which will see him realise the huge potential he has."

The Wolfpack have also signed former Salford prop Luke Menzies, taking the number of players in their inaugural squad to 24.

The much-travelled 28-year-old has played for his home-town club Batley, as well as Hull KR, Salford, Dewsbury, Oldham, Hunslet and Swinton.

"We are extremely pleased to add Luke to our squad," said Toronto assistant coach Simon Finnigan. "Players like Luke are the glue that holds strong sides together.

"We are confident in our forward pack, and think we will be able to make our presence known at the centre of the park."

Toronto will play friendlies against Challenge Cup holders Hull FC and Super League champions Wigan in readiness for their entry into the Challenge Cup on the last weekend of February and opening league game at London Skolars on March 4.
