Quins to bring in Australian recruit for next Super League season

Harlequins have confirmed the signing of Australian Luke Williamson on a two-year deal from Manly Sea Eagles. 30-year-old Williamson will move to London in October ahead of pre-season training with Quins in November. The former Canberra man spent six years with the Sea Eagles after having previously started his career with the Adelaide Rams in 1997. Quins coach Brian McDermott says Williamson is the ideal new recruit for the Londoners. "Luke will bring a fair amount of grunt blended with the ability to 'play' a bit," said McDermott. "On top of that, his personality suits what we have going on down here in London." Williamson has been handed a release from the final 12 months on his Manly contract, is delighted to be heading to Super League. "I have always dreamed of playing in the Super League and the Challenge Cup," he said. Williamson will play alongside fellow Australian Chad Robinson at the Twickenham Stoop next season after he was signed from Parramatta, while stand-off Luke Dorn is also poised to return to the club from Castleford.
