David Mills is taking over as Wales captain for their international against England at Doncaster on Friday week.
The 27-year-old Hull KR prop, the son of former Wales and Great Britain prop Jim Mills, replaces Lee Briers in the role following his retirement from international rugby after Wales failed to qualify for the World Cup.
Iestyn Harris also stepped down after the qualifying defeat by Lebanon but has joined a new-look backroom staff.
