Hull FC have handed Danny Houghton a one-year extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2010 season.
Hooker to remain at the KC Stadium until end of 2010 campaign
Hull FC have handed promising young hooker Danny Houghton a one-year contract extension.
The 20-year-old's new deal means he will now remain with the Black and Whites until the end of the 2010 Super League campaign.
Snapped up from amateur side East Hull, Houghton made his first-team debut in 2007 and featured heavily last season, primarily being used from the bench.
Head coach Richard Agar is delighted the player, seen as a long-term replacement for Shaun Berrigan, has decided to extend his stay at the KC Stadium.
"This is great news for us because I can see Danny playing a big part in the long-term future of Hull FC," he told the club's website.
"Danny is held in high regard, he has already shown a maturity way above his years and a desire and determination to become a better player."
Sad loss
Meanwhile, Hull are mourning the loss of former full-back Arthur Keegan after he lost his six-year battle with Alzheimer's on Monday.
The former Great Britain international, who won nine caps, toured Australia and New Zealand in 1966 and captained Yorkshire during his playing career.
After starting his career at home-town amateur club Dewsbury Celtic, Keegan spent 13 years plying his trade for the Airlie Birds.
He made 366 appearances for the club, scoring 31 tries and kicking 318 goals in the process, before going on to become player-coach of Bramley.
