Chris Chester has left his coaching role at Castleford to return to Hull KR as their new head of youth development.

Rovers return for 30-year-old after short stint at the Jungle

Chris Chester has left his coaching role at Castleford's reserve team to make a return to Hull KR as their new head of youth development. Rovers were the 30-year-old's final club in a playing career that was cut short last August due to a neck injury. Chester made an instant move into coaching when he accepted the position of reserve team coach at the Tigers. However, he is now back at Craven Park to replace the departed Lee Crooks, who asked to leave following an approach from another club.

Model pro

"Chris is a very experienced player and a model pro who's very well respected across the sport," Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell told the club's website. "We're thrilled to have him with us and we're very much looking forward to his contribution to Hull KR, its team and our youth development plans." Chester admits he is excited about his new role having agreed a return to familiar surroundings just five months after hanging up his boots. "I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into this role," he said. "Youth development within clubs is something that has always been of interest to me."
