Tongan forward signs three-year deal with Airlie Birds

New Zealand and Tonga forward Epalahame Lauaki has agreed to join Hull, subject to gaining an entry visa. The 25-year-old has been released from the final two years of his deal with New Zealand Warriors to move to the Airlie Birds. Lauaki, who won two caps for New Zealand before switching his allegiance to Tonga, has signed a three-year contract with Hull. "Playing in the UK is something I have always wanted to do but I didn't want to come at the end of my career," he said. "I wanted to come while I still had plenty of football in front of me and, when Hull came in for me, it presented me with the perfect opportunity to come." Hull's football operations manager Jon Sharp had first tried to sign Lauaki while at Huddersfield, so he was delighted to finally have completed the deal. Sharp said: "I was desperate to sign him and I chased him for two years. He will be a tremendous asset and he will kill it here."
