Former Wigan stand-off makes State of Origin return after four years absence
New South Wales have recalled former Wigan stand-off Trent Barrett for their must-win State of Origin game against Queensland in Brisbane. The 31-year-old former St George Illawarra captain replaces Terry Campese to gain his eighth Origin cap after a four-year absence and 12 years after making his debut. Having revived Cronulla's fortunes, the Sharks skipper, who returned to Australia last November after two seasons with Wigan, has now been asked to do the same with the Blues as they attempt to stave off a record fourth-successive series defeat. His Cronulla team-mate Paul Gallen has been brought in for Anthony Laffranchi in the only other unforced change to the side that lost 28-18 in Melbourne. Former St Helens centre Jamie Lyon (ankle) will have to prove his fitness before taking his place in the team next Wednesday.
