Castleford have handed Liam Higgins a new one-year deal to keep the prop at the Jungle for the 2010 season.

Castleford have handed prop Liam Higgins a new one-year deal. The 22-year-old, who is currently in his third season with the Tigers, will now remain at The Jungle for the 2010 campaign. Higgins joined Castleford from Hull FC and has been a regular under coach Terry Matterson in the engage Super League this year. "It's good to have got things sorted out with my contract and I'm looking forward to another season with the Tigers," Higgins said on the Tigers' website. "After winning promotion from the National League in my first year we have made progress and this year we have taken a big step forward and we'll all be disappointed if we don't make the play offs. "And with the squad being more settled year on year, I can't see any reason why we can't go even better in 2010." Castleford coach Terry Matterson feels the best is yet to come from Higgins, who helped the club gain promotion straight back to the top flight in 2007. "Liam is another popular member of the squad and I am pleased to have him on board again for next season," he said. "He is the perfect age for a prop, at his age complimenting both the senior members of the squad and the youngsters and I'm looking forward to seeing Liam improve still further."
