Australian fills void left by Jeffries
Bradford Bulls have signed Cronulla Sharks utility back Brett Kearney on a two-year deal.
The versatile 26-year-old is the third overseas player to join Steve McNamara's squad ahead of the 2010 season.
Kearney is expected to fill the gap left by stand-off Ben Jeffries, who is making a return to his former club Wakefield.
The Australian, who missed almost all of the 2009 NRL season after sustaining a foot injury, will join up with his new club in November.
"He's had a tough year but had made massive strides before the injury and is very highly thought of in Australia," said McNamara.
"We know all about Brett's pedigree and when he played well, Cronulla played well. He's very elusive, scores tries and will bring a lot to us."
Kearney, who can also play full-back, will join fellow Australians Glenn Hall and Heath L'Estrange at the Grattan Stadium.
"Playing in England is something I've been thinking about and coming off contract this year, it was a good opportunity to come over," he said.
"Bradford have been a club at the top of the Super League for a time now and that obviously played a big part. They are a very professional club from everything I've heard."
