Former Leeds player to miss start of Australian season after undergoing wrist surgery
Greg Eastwood will be forced to delay his NRL return with Canterbury Bulldogs due to a wrist injury sustained playing for Leeds.
The 23-year-old New Zealand international forward rejoined the Bulldogs after being released from his contract with the Rhinos but is expected to miss the first six rounds of the new season.
Eastwood, who helped the Kiwis win the Four Nations Series in November, complained of soreness in both wrists when he started training last month and has since undergone surgery.
He broke his left scaphoid bone representing his country in 2009 and the right while playing for Leeds last March and scans revealed both joints had failed to heal properly despite being operated on at the time.
Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said: "Greg had surgery before Christmas to re-align two previous fractures.
"The surgeries to correct the problems were successful, however he'll be in plaster until early February."
