Youngquest feels for old Cru

Castleford's Nick Youngquest feels "really sorry" for his former Crusaders team-mates.

Aussie star sympathises with former team-mates in Wales

Nick Youngquest will go into the biggest match of his career feeling sorry for his former club. The Australian will line up for Castleford against Leeds on Sunday with a place in the Carnegie Challenge Cup final up for grabs. However, Youngquest's excitement has been tempered by the plight of his former team-mates at Crusaders. They have been left with bleak futures after the club, out of the blue, withdrew its application for a Super League licence for next season. "I feel really sorry for the guys down there," said Youngquest, who is still owed money by the Welsh club. "It's been a good career move for me now but I've got a lot of friends there and it's hard for them to take, with leases and houses and mortgages and stuff. "My money's long gone but hopefully they get what they are owed. Hopefully, they'll get back on their feet and find new Super League clubs and they'll be running around somewhere next year."

Wembley

Castleford's season has been something of a rollercoaster ride so far - a flying start, disappointing middle and a recent three-game winning run - but Youngquest is hopeful it can be capped with a trip to Wembley for the Challenge Cup final. "I've had a really enjoyable year," he added. "We've played some pretty decent footie as well as some pretty poor footie throughout the year as well but these are the games you want to play in and this is when you want to be playing your best. "Hopefully we can take the club and take the fans down to Wembley and do the town proud. "I never got to play in semi-finals footie back home so this is probably the biggest game I'll have played in."
