A detailed look back at the ninth day of this year's Wimbledon.

Latest Wimbledon Stories

2001 : All over and it's Roddick through. Big backhand from the American flicked off the top of the net and Hewitt could only return it long. This has been a great spectacle and in truth neither player deserved to lose. Hewitt has performed heroics but it's Roddick through to the semi-finals. 2001 : Great stuff from Roddick as he forces Hewitt wide on the backhand and the Aussie sends it even wider. 40-30. 2001 : Roddick dumps a forehand into the net. He'll serve for the match with new balls. 1957 : Roddick slips on return but Hewitt can't take advantage as he smacks it into the net. Advantage A-Rod again. 1956 : Massive serve from Hewitt which Roddick can't return over the net. Back to deuce. Hewitt camp looking remarkably relaxed. 1955 : After a couple more Hewitt advantages and returns to deuce, a wild forehand from the Aussie gives Roddick the break point. 1954 : Hewitt responds with an ace but then curls a backhand into the net as we go back to deuce. Here we go again... 1952 : Roddick just inches away from the break point as his forehand down the line drifts just wide. 1950 : Roddick at 30-30 on the Hewitt serve... 1947 : Roddick gets to 40-0 before handing Hewitt a point back. It's a temporary blip though and a booming serve which Hewitt returns into the net makes it 4-4. 1946 : Quite how Roddick is still producing such powerful serves is beyond me. His arm must be as heavy as lead. 1944 : Game Hewitt. He's ahead again, 4-3 in the final set. These two will batter each other into submission here. The match clock has just ticked to three hours and 34 minutes! 1943 : Roddick plunders a backhand down the line past the onrushing Hewitt to get it to 30-30 but Hewitt sends a lovely slider out to his forehand for an ace. 1940 : Big serving from Roddick - allied to a lovely touch at the net - levels it up at 3-3. 1938 : Roddick dumps a Hewitt second serve into the net as the Aussie takes a 3-2 lead in the final set. Character on display on both sides of the net here. 2-2 in the decider. 1934 : Yet another break point for Hewitt. Averted by a deep forehand from Roddick that forces Hewitt to drive the backhand wide. 1933 : Another break point for the Aussie...but Roddick produces one of the greatest pick-ups I've seen and volleys the winner to level it up again at deuce. 1932 : Danger averted with a booming Roddick ace. That's his 40th of the match and he's showing no sign of slowing up. 1930 : Hewitt scraps back from 30-0 down on the Roddick serve and forces the break point! 1927 : Hewitt closes it out with his second advantage. 2-1 to the Aussie in the fifth set with serve. 1926 : Hewitt forges ahead to advantage, but it's then back to deuce. Surely not another marathon game on the cards? 1925 : He fares little better on the backhand - though it's in the right direction this time, it's into the net. Deuce. 1924 : Wild forehand return from Roddick - he's really struggled out there today. Now 30-40. 1923 : Two break points for Roddick at 15-40. Is this it? 1922 : No such dramas for Roddick as he races through his first service game of the deciding set. 1920 : Hewitt finally takes the game! Fourteen minutes! 1918 : Still going... 1916 : Longest game of the match this one. Could be crucial... 1910 : Hewitt gets to 40-30 on serve but then double faults. We're at deuce in the first game. Can Roddick strike first (again)? 1906 : Laura Robson has been speaking about the back injury which contributed to her defeat today in the girls' singles. She's just told reporters: "It gradually got worse throughout the match today. It felt like I could not hit the ball that hard, especially on my serve, so it was difficult but I wanted to keep going. It was a bit of spasm but it will get better. I thought I could have done a couple of things better today but I was really limited because of my back. It is really disappointing and frustrating but you can only learn. But I don't think I will be out for that long." 1905 : We're into a fifth! Incredible drama! Roddick sends a backhand wide and Hewitt takes the set 6-4. The Aussie 'Fanatics' are in great voice and understandably so. 1904 : A-Rod responds in the only way he knows how - an ace for 30-30. But then Hewitt produces a quite brilliant forehand return to a swinging Roddick serve and it's set point! 1903 : Two points away from a fifth set as Roddick is 15-30! 1900 : Hewitt churns out another game on serve to go 5-4 up. Roddick serving to prevent us heading into a fifth set. 1859 : Booming serve from Roddick and Hewitt can't return it...and the American follows it up with an ace to close out the game. 1858 : Roddick back to 30-30. Hewitt responds by smacking the bottom of his trainers with his racket in frustration. 1857 : Roddick 0-30 down on serve. Surely not? 1856 : Comfortable hold for Hewitt for 4-3. I've said it before, but what odds the tie-break deciding this one? 1855 : Djokovic was not happy with his display today, revealing his was nervous at times during the loss. He said: "I think I've played okay throughout the tournament but I haven't performed that well today. I was solid on my service games but then, when I needed to step it up in the important games, I was too nervous. He took his chances and he played better. You've got to give him credit for that. I didn't return well and that's the bottom line. Return is one of my strengths but today it was a real disaster." 1854 : Reacton to Tommy Haas' four-set win earlier today against Novak Djokovic is in. Haas has suffered some bad luck in the past at the tournament, none more so then in 2007 when he was due to meet Roger Federer in round four only to be forced to withdraw due to a torn stomach muscle He insists he never gave up on a run such as the one he is currently enjoying. "That's all in the past," he said. "I always felt like on the grass maybe something is still there for me left. I always felt deep down that Wimbledon will maybe still have something left for me. It had better come soon because I'm not getting any younger.'' He added: "This is the best tennis I've played here. Unfortunately my next opponent (Federer) is a really tough hurdle." 1852 : Serene progress for Roddick on serve as he levels it up. 1847 : Hewitt holds for 3-2. The Aussie is clearly hurting - wonder if it's playing on Roddick's mind, though, as when your opponent is injured you can subconciously change your gameplan and it doesn't always pay off. 1846 : Great stuff from Hewitt as he breaks back. You can't keep a good man down. Now 2-2 in the fourth set. 1845 : 15-40 on the Roddick serve. Heroic stuff from Hewitt, though he's had the benefit of two fortunate bounces. 1843 : Just 38% of first serves in for Hewitt in this set so far - tells its own story as he was up in the 60s in each of the first three.1842 : Hewitt is basically hopping up to serve rather than jumping and clearly hobbling. The game's his, though, and it's 1-2 in the fourth set, with Roddick leading 2-1 in sets. 1840 : Hewitt's one of the greatest fighters the game has ever seen but surely even he can't come back from this? A set and a break down and struggling with injury. It'd be the stuff of legend. 1839 : Hewitt's leg is definitely troubling him - he's struggling to push up for his serves and has just produced a seventh double fault. 1838 : Some quotes in from Karlovic now after his defeat by Federer. Big Ivo said: "In the first two (sets) he was playing unbelievably. He almost did not give me any chance." And while Federer may not want to talk about possibly rewriting the tennis history books, Karlovic is confident that will be the case come Sunday evening. He added: "Federer's maybe the best player ever but, on the grass, he's by far the best I think." Asked whether he had seen anyone who could beat the Swiss, Karlovic added: "This year, honestly no." 1837 : Comfortable hold from Roddick consolidates the break. 1833 : Hewitt scraps his way back to 30-40 but then dumps a backhand into the net as Roddick goes 1-0 up with a break. Could be game over as Roddick has been serving like a dream. Hewitt's thigh looks to be troubling him again as well. 1833 : Double fault from Hewitt makes it 0-40. 1832 : Bad start to the set for Hewitt - already 0-30 down on serve. 1829 : In true sports commentary style, for those just joining us Roddick took the first set 6-3, Hewitt took the second on a breaker and Roddick has now done likewise in the third. So we're heading into the fourth set with Roddick 2-1 up. 1829 : Roddick closes it out as his serve out to the Hewitt backhand is returned into the net. From 1-0 down to a 7-1 win! 1828 : Hewitt imploding here. Double fault makes it 1-6. 1828 : Brutal hitting from Roddick takes it to 5-1. 1827 : Back to Hewitt to serve now. 1-4 and with it all to do. 1827 : Hewitt drives wide with the forehand to go 1-3 down and flings his racket to the floor in frustration. He's chucking it away after a bright start to the tie-break. 1826 : Bad to worse for Hewitt as he dumps a forehand in the net so it's advantage Roddick - he leads 2-1 with two serves to come. 1825 : Hewitt hands it straight back with a double fault! 1824 : Minibreak for Hewitt in the first point! Great start! 1823 : Tie-break time on Court One as Hewitt holds serve. 1822 : Reaction to Roger Federer's win earlier today - the Swiss beat Ivo Karlovic in straight sets - and he's refusing to contemplate making more tennis history. Two more wins this week will see him break Pete Sampras' all-time record of 14 Grand Slam singles titles, but Federer said: "I'm happy with the way I'm playing, which is always most important. I just won my quarters, so my mind has not started wondering yet. I think tomorrow I'll prepare for a tough weekend ahead of me. It would be writing in the history books of tennis but it's not there yet. It's still far away - many points, many serves, many forehands." 1819 : Roddick holds to 30 for 6-5. Can he get the break or are we looking at a second tie-break in a row? 1816 : Another 'Cmon' as Hewitt sees off the danger. 5-5. 1815 : Great return from Roddick gets us to deuce in game 10. Roddick two points from the set... 1810 : Hewitt has Roddick 15-30 but A-Rod cranks his serve into gear and produces a 112mph second serve en route to edging 5-4 ahead. Real battle of attrition this. 1806 : Level at 4-4. Little sign of either man cracking on serve thus far in this set...so Roddick will probably get broken now. 1805 : Hewitt pulls off a brillaint crosscourt forehand to pass the onrushing Roddick. Greets it with a trademark 'Cmon' and a wag of the finger to the crowd. 1803 : Roddick takes his ace tally to 27 en route to edging 4-3 ahead. Anyone for a tie-break? 1759 : Hewitt levels us up once again. 3-3 in the third now. 1758 : Back on Court One we're still going with serve as Roddick edges ahead 3-2. It's a real battle of wills this one now. 1757 : It's 15th-seeded Czechs Lukas Dlouhy and Iveta Benesova up next for Murray and Huber. Murray is now 13-1 in mixed doubles at Wimbledon. That's quite some record! 1756 : Great day for the Murrays - Jamie and Liezel Huber have beaten Mike Bryan and Mattek-Sands to reach the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles. 6-3 in the final set. 1755 : Jamie Murray now serving for the match after a hold from Mattek-Sands. 1754 : Hewitt closes it out to level us up at one set all, two games all. 1753 : Roddick gets to 30-30 on the Hewitt serve but the American dumps a forehand return into the net. Clearly frustrated with himself. 1751 : Looking really good for Murray and Huber on Court Four now - they're 5-2 up in the final set. Still only one break, though 1749 : Roddick edges ahead 2-1. 1746 : With serve so far in the third set on Court One - one game apiece. 1743 : More good news for the Murray family - Jamie and Huber have broken Mattek-Sands' serve for a 3-1 lead in the final set. 1740 : Roddick sends a forehand long and that's the set for Hewitt. Big fist pump from Hewitt, first to his family then the vocal Aussie fans. You've got to give him credit - he's an out-an-out fighter. 1739 : Great serve from Hewitt levels it up - and he then sends a backhand behind Roddick to take an 11-10 lead. Excellent stuff. 1738 : Roddick sends his first serve long but a big kicker followed by a huge forehand takes him to 10-9. Pressure back on Hewitt. 1737 : Roddick opts for a drop shot at 8-9 but Hewitt sticks it in the net. Looked easier to convert than miss. What drama! 1736 : Hewitt forces Roddick wide on the backhand and his hopeful lob drifts wide. This is a tie-break of huge quality. 1735 : 8-7 Roddick...but Hewitt sends down a big serve of his own and Roddick returns long. Level again at 8-8. You can almost cut the tension with a knife out there. 1734 : Great smash from Roddick to save the set point. If Roddick takes this it's hard to see even Hewitt fighting back, but it's game on if the Aussie snatches it. 1733 : Great scrapping from Hewitt - now 7-6 to him though back to Roddick to serve. 1732 : Second serve from Hewitt baffles Roddick and it's 6-6. 1731 : Great stuff from Hewitt as he pegs back another but Roddick booms down an ace to move to 6-5. Back to Hewitt to serve, though. 1730 : Roddick takes it to 5-3 before Hewitt pegs a point back. 1728 : Bad news for Jamie Murray - he and Huber have ceded the second set 6-4 to Mike Bryan and Mattek-Sands. Huber currently off for a comfort break as she continues to struggle in the heat. 1727 : Early minibreak for Roddick as he makes it to 4-2 at the change of ends. 1723 : Roddick trails 0-30 on serve but comes through to force the tie-break. 1719 : Roddick holds but Hewitt responds by pushing back ahead so A-Rod will serve for the tie-break. Aussie fans in great voice today. 1715 : Hewitt holds a lengthy game to go 5-4. Looked to be struggling but dug deep - as always - to get through it. 1709 : Roddick back to 4-4 and suddenly it's Hewitt looking vulnerable. Now 4-2 to Mike Bryan and Mattek-Sands against Jamie Murray and Huber. 1704 : Roddick forces another break point - and takes it this time. Now back to 3-4 on serve in the second set with the American having taken the first set. 1700 : Hewitt serving at 4-2 here in the second set - he's just held off a break point. Huber still struggling with the heat on Court Four. Her and Jamie Murray have been broken for 1-2. 1658 : And that's your lot. Murray is into the semi-finals with a three-set victory. Not the best of first sets but from 1-3 in the second it was absolutely sumblime stuff. Roddick or Hewitt will be his semi-final opponent and it's on that game we'll now focus. 1658 : Ace No 19 sets up the match point. 1657 : Ferrero sends a return long for 30-15...but then Murray dumps one in the net again for 30-30. He's making us sweat! 1656 : Ace No 18 from Murray makes it 15-0 but he then dumps one in the net for 15-15. 1655 : Murray breaks Ferrero to love. Ferrero doesn't look like he wants to be out here any more - he looks well and truly out of it. Should only be one more game here I'd have thought. 1654 : One-way traffic on Centre Court and both men are flying along when serving. Murray gets 0-30 on the Ferrero serve...and then takes it to 0-40! 1653 : Back on Court One and Hewitt holds for 4-1. Fair to say the Aussies in the crowd are making themselves heard... 1652 : Murray fairly rattling through his service games now. At least he's trying to. Having raced to 40-0 within about 30 seconds he was pegged back to 40-15 before closing it out. 4-2 and he's two games from the match. 1651 : You just can't keep Hewitt down - he's broken for 3-1 in the second. Meanwhile, back on Court Four Huber looks to be struggling with the heat - she's had the doctor on. 1650 : Murray forces another break - and this time takes it with a lovely forehand down the line. Now 3-2 with that break. Game over? 1648 : Murray sends a backhand long to squander the first chance to break before Ferrero produces an impudent drop shot to bring it back to deuce. Brave. 1648 : Two break points for Murray now! 1647 : Back on Court One and it's a hold for Hewitt. He leads 2-1. 1646 : Comfortable hold for Murray. Feels like we're just drifting through this set so far - it's 2-2 with serve. 1645 : All going to plan for the Murrays so far - Andy's two sets to love up and Jamie has just taken the first set with Huber on the tie-break, winning it 9-7. 1644 : Roddick does likewise to level them up at 1-1 in the second set on Court One. It's him in front, though, having taken the first set. 1643 : Ferrero holds serve. 1643 : Tomorrow's order of play for the ladies' singles semi-finals is in and first up at 1300 BST will be Serena Williams against Elena Dementieva. They will be followed by defending champion Venus Williams and Dinara Safina. 1642 : Hewitt gets himself on the scoreboard first in the second set. He'll need all of his fighting spirit to get past Roddick today. 1641 : Rock-solid forehand from Ferrero pulls it back to deuce and he then gets a game point, which Murray denies with a thudding forehand. 1640 : Break point for Murray. This would surely be game over. 1638 : Great rally at 15-15 on the Ferrero serve, with Murray swatting it away on the forehand to take the point. 1637 : Murray levels things up in the third set on Centre as Roddick closes the first out on Court One. 6-3 to the American. 1636 : Too good from Roddick as he fights back to 30-30. 1635 : Textbook scrapping from Hewitt as he gets to 0-30 on the Roddick serve. The Aussie is like a dog with a bone. 1634 : Hewitt holds for 3-5 in the first. Roddick serving for the set as Ferrero holds serve to go 1-0 up in the third. 1632 : Jamie Murray into a first-set tie-break in his mixed doubles clash with Huber against Mike Bryan and Mattek-Sands. 1632 : Still looking good for Roddick on Court One - he's 5-2 up now. 1631 : Can't tell you just how impressive the last 10 minutes or so have been from Murray. From deuce at 1-3 he's won 20 from 21 points to take the second set 6-3. The switch suddenly came on and with Ferrero struggling he took full advantage. 1629 : Great stuff from Murray. 16 points won from 17 take him from 3-1 down to 5-3 up as he breaks for the second straight game. This is incredible! 1627 : 'Let's go Lleyton' holds his serve so trails Roddick 2-4 on Court One. Ferrero's poor run continues on Centre - he's 0-30 on serve having lost 14 of the last 15 points! 1626 : Murray consolidates the break with a hold to 15. He's a set and 4-3 up having turned things around in the last two games. 1626 : Roddick looking good on his serve as per usual - he's now 4-1 up against Hewitt and sending some huge bombs down. 1625 : Bad news for brother Jamie, though, as he and Huber have handed the break straight back. 5-5 in the first. 1624 : That's the break for Murray. All of a sudden he looks much the fresher of the players both mentally and physically. Definitely stepped up his intensity in that one. 1623 : Hewitt on the board on Court One. Now trailing Roddick 1-3. 1622 : Three break points for Murray. He's found his focus and is definitely starting to flow now. 1621 : Murray gets to 0-30 on the Ferrero serve. Break chance. 1619 : Looks like Judy's made an immediate impact - Jamie and Huber have broken for 5-4 in the first set! Back on Centre, Andy has held serve so it's 3-2 Ferrero now. One-way traffic on Court One, meanwhile, with Roddick leading 3-0. 1617 : Looks like Judy Murray might have headed for Court Four to see Jamie - her seat on Centre is now vacant. It's 4-4 in the first set in Jamie's mixed doubles match. 1615 : Hewitt holds off the first break point but doesn't make the same mistake again as he converts his second. 2-0 to the American. 1614 : Ferrero holds his serve to go 3-1 in the second set as Roddick forces a break point in Hewitt's first service game on Court One. 1613 : Murray and Ferrero trade forehands from way out wide, but it's the Spaniard who produces the better. Quality definitely on an upward curve in this one after a solid if unspectacular first set. 1611 : Roddick off and running with a hold to love on Court One. 1609 : Murray holds serve. Trails 2-1 now having taken the first. 1607 : Comfortable hold for Ferrero. Murray looks like a man who had a late-finishing five-setter not too long ago. Wonder why that is... 1606 : Andy Murray booms down a 132mph beauty to avert the first but then dumps a backhand into the net to hand the initiative to Ferrero in the second set. 1605 : Two break points for Ferrero in the first game of the second set. 1603 : Knocking up on Court One. Head-to-head record reads Hewitt 6 Roddick 5, though Roddick has won the last four - and both on grass. Wonder how Hewitt's thigh is? 1601 : Solid start from Jamie Murray and Liezel Huber - they're currently level in their mixed doubles clash. 2-2 in the first set. 1600 : Ferrero double faults to gift the first set to Murray. Let's be honest he's not been at his best so far but he's grinding it out. 1559 : That one goes abegging but this time a sublime backhand on the jump sets up another set point. 1558 : Oh I say! Wonderful forehand from Andy Murray gives him the first set point. 1557 : Andy Murray gets a helpful net cord at 15-15 but then dumps a backhand in the net. He'll be kicking himself for that. 1555 : Sad news out on Court 18 as Laura Robson's reign as champion is over - she's lost in three sets to Quirine Lemoine in a match lasting 2hr 17mins. We'll no doubt find out later how much that back injury has affected her. 1554 : All over on Court One and it's a great win for Haas - he's through to his fourth Grand Slam semi-final, the other three having come in Australia. Djokovic definitely below his best but Haas a well-deserved winner in four sets. Hewitt-Roddick next. 1553 : Great service game from Andy Murray - a hold to 15 takes him to 6-5 and again Ferrero must serve to stay in the first set. On Court One, Haas is just a point away from the match. 1552 : Ferrero holds to 30 for 5-5 as Robson is broken out on Court 18. Lemoine will serve for the match again. 1551 : Djokovic holds so Haas will have to serve it out. He's 5-3 up in the fourth set and serving for the match and a place in the semi-finals. 1550 : 30-30 now on the Ferrero serve. Murray two points from the set. 1547 : Sergio Garcia among the crowd here supporting his old mate Ferrero. Meanwhile, it's 6-6 out on Court 18. 1546 : All happening now. Comfortable hold from Andy Murray leaves Ferrero serving to stay into the first set, Haas goes 5-2 in the fourth set and Laura Robson now leads 6-5 in the decider! 1545 : Just under way in the Jamie Murray/Liezel Huber v Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek-Sands mixed doubles match. Stay tuned on that one. Murray and Huber reached the semis last year, and who can forget Murray winning the title with Jankovic two years ago? 1544 : Ferrero holds serve on his second advantage. Now 4-4 in the opening set. Murray looking solid on serve and coming into it more lately on the Ferrero serve. 1542 : Murray cuts loose with a lovely backhand down the line to get to deuce on the Ferrero serve just as Djokovic serves out for 2-4 in the fourth. Haas serving to go within a game of victory now. 1541 : Great news (for British fans) from Court 18 - Laura Robson has broken back and it's now 5-5 in the final set. Quirine Lemoine served for the match there but couldn't hold her nerve. 1540 : Djokovic at deuce on the Haas serve...but can't get any further. 4-1 Haas now and he's two games from the match. 1539 : Murray cranks it up in his latest service game to edge ahead 4-3. Still not at his best but he's doing enough on serve so far. 1538 : Both men still looking solid on serve on Centre - now 3-3 with Ferrero holding pretty comfortably. Murray not flowing just yet but plenty of time for him to get it going. 1537 : Brian from Bray writes: "Murray should have little trouble, but I like Roddick to send Lleyton packing, I think the pundits are going over the top with Hewitt and he'll be found out today.. Either way - Fed will not be beaten." 1535 : Haas doesn't need a third invitation - after getting to advantage, he closes out the game this time for a 3-1 lead in the fourth. All he has to do is hold his serve from here and he's into the semis. 1534 : Two break points for Haas...but Djokovic conjures up two well-constructed points to pull it back to deuce. 1533 : Murray takes the game with serve to lead 3-2. Cagey opening. Looks to be no long-standing problem with Murray's ankle either. Bad news from Court 18, though, as Laura Robson has given up a break in the decider. 1532 : Still no luck in finding an alternative way of saying it's 'still going with serve' on Court One - 2-1 to Haas. 1530 : Ferrero holds...and there's a worrying sign for Murray fans as he slides out to the forehand side and winces on the crucial point as he looks to have turned his ankle a little. That said, he's back to his feet quickly enough. 1529 : Murray gets to 30-40 on the Ferrero serve but then pushes a forehand wastefully long. Missed opportunity. 1528 : Djokovic holds in the next and it's a second successive love game to get us going in the fourth set. 1526 : Normal service resumed on Court One as Haas holds in his first service game of the fourth set. Plenty of Aussies in the front few rows with their hero Hewitt against Roddick following this one. 'Cmon!' 1525 : Murray holds for 2-1 at at the change of ends plenty more people come streaming in. Looks like they've been for a drinks break after the opening match as there's plenty of Pimms (and soft drinks) on display as they return. 1522 : An early helping hand from the net for Murray. Plenty of empty seats around Centre Court but you can guarantee it'll be packed again before long. 1521 : Haas goes long with a return to give Djokovic the third set on Court one. Now 2-1 to Haas. Back on Centre, Ferrero takes his first service game on Centre. Murray got to 0-30 but Ferrero pulled it out of the bag. 1520 : Out on Court 18 it's 2-2 in the third set as Laura Robson continues the defence of her girls' singles title. 1519 : At the very least Haas has forced Djokovic to serve out for the set. Comfortable game, that. 1517 : Back on Court One, Djokovic has consolidated his break so Haas will serve to stay in the set. 1516 : Mark from Dublin is first on the emails. He writes: "Would like to see Murray go through here...but definitely up for Lleyton now!" Good news on the first front early doors - he's just taken the first game on serve to love. 1515 : Murray and Ferrero have played just once previously - at Queens a few weeks back. The fact Murray won the tournament should give you a pretty big clue as to the outcome. 1512 : And there was me suggesting it was early days for the break on Court One. Djokovic has done the business for 4-3. He's only come back from two sets down once in his career. 1508 : Bad news for Judy Murray - her two boys will be on court at the same time today, with Jamie and mixed partner Liezel Huber due on Court Four for their mixed doubles clash shortly. 1508 : Serve still holding sway on One - it's 3-3. Still, the first break in sets one and two came in game 11 so it's early days yet. 1507 : Juan Carlos Ferrero is on Centre Court for his men's quarter-final. Oh, and the bloke playing him - some chap by the name of Murray - isn't far behind him. They're just knocking up. Let me know your thoughts on reece.killworth@bskyb.com 1504 : Far be it from me to cut and paste but...still going with serve on One - Haas leads 3-2. 1459 : Still going with serve on One - Haas leads 2-1. 1458 : Good news coming in from Court 18 - Laura Robson has levelled things up in her girls' singles match. 6-4 to her in the second set. 1457 : Federer is "very happy" to have broken Karlovic twice in the match and says he is (understandably) proud of his record of 21 successive Grand Slam semi-final appearances. 1455 : Back on One, it's 1-1 in the third set with both games thus far going to serve. Haas, don't forget, 2-0 up in that one. 1454 : Federer needs just one of his next serves to close it out. That's a brilliant performance from the Swiss - the best you can say is he was never really troubled even on his own serve against a man who is a real threat. He can't have any complaints about his own performance - he's won 6-3 7-5 7-6 in an hour and 43 minutes. 1454 : Karlovic at least holds for 6-3...though the umpire initially calls 6-4 until a Federer glare puts him right. 1453 : Make that one. Brilliant backhand pass from Federer with Karlovic beaten at the net. Four match points. 1452 : Big serve from Federer takes it to 5-2 as serve switches back to Karlovic. Federer just two points away from the semi-finals. 1451 : Karlovic has a chance on a Federer second serve but his forehand is a shocker, landing closer to the netting behind the court than the baseline. 4-2 Fed as they change ends. 1450 : Big serve from Karlovic levels us up at 2-2 before tossing a backhand wide to give Federer the minibreak. Game over? 1449 : Federer returns the dose, though Karlovic at least gets a racket on it, to make it 1-1 and Karlovic then sends a routine forehand long. 2-1 Federer. 1448 : Booming ace from Karlovic makes it 1-0. Federer looks to Hawk-eye for assistance, but it's well in. 1447 : And it's back to Centre Court for...a tie-break! Federer still awesome on serve, but can Karlovic nick a point here? 1446 : Brilliant from Haas on set point as he comes into the net by virtue of two shots deep into Djokovic's court and finishes it off with a volley. He's two sets up now, and Djokovic - having thrown away three set points - isn't looking happy. He made some sort of gesture up to his team there - but ultimately it's only him who can turn this around. 1445 : Djokovic long with the forehand and now it's Haas serving for the second set at 7-6! What a turnaround! 1444 : Djokovic sends his first serve long off the net and Haas snatches back the minibreak with a magnificent backhand after a rally dominated by backhands. 1443 : Two big serves from Haas mean Djokovic must serve it out... 1441 : Haas holds firm on his second service point with a booming serve. 4-3 Djokovic, which he takes to 6-3 with his two service points. Haas serving to stay in the second set. Now 5-5 on Centre with both men having held serve comfortably. 1439 : Double fault from Haas means they change ends with Djokovic 4-2 up with the minibreak. Haas should have challenged an incorrect call on serve at 3-2 but didn't and subsequently sent his second serve long as well. 1438 : Booming serve from Djokovic first up which Haas barely manages to get his racket on - and he makes it 3-2 by forcing Haas to return long. 1437 : Barely have the words left my fingers than he wildly lashes a forehand wide to gift the minibreak back, though he holds his second service point for a 2-1 lead. 1437 : Great stuff from Haas as he shrugs off his disappointment to get the first minibreak for 1-0. 1436 : Three break points...and on a second serve. Djokovic needs no second invitation, his backhand return forcing Haas to volley into the net. 6-6, tie-break. Surprise that as Haas has been holding pretty comfortably. 1435 : 0-30 on the Haas serve. Can Djokovic pull it back straight away? 1434 : Karlovic holds...but for the meantime the focus switches to Court One as Haas serves for a 2-0 lead. 1433 : History repeating itself on Court One as Haas pulls off the break in the 11th game to go 6-5 up. He'll serve for a 2-0 lead. 1432 : Erm...no. Two big serves from Federer and it's game to the Swiss. 3-3 in the third set, Federer leading 2-0. 1431 : Two straight points from Federer makes it 40-30...but then Karlovic pulls a rabbit out of a hat with a lovely forehand passing shot to level it up at deuce. Break chance? 1430 : Chink in the armour from Federer here? Having pulled back to 15-15 thanks to Karlovic's wild overhead he's gone 15-30 down. 1429 : Great chance for Karlovic to get 0-30 on the Federer serve but pushes an overhead long. You simply can't waste chances like that against Federer. 1428 : Haas holds to love to make it 5-5 in the second. This is the point Haas broke in the first. Can he do so again second time around? 1426 : Karlovic holds to 15 to go 3-2 in the third. Can he make any impression on the Federer serve, though? Of course, if he gets it to the breaker one break would be enough but he can't have even placed a seed of doubt in Fed's mind so far. 1425 : Djokovic ace makes it 5-4. Will Haas crack at a similar point as Djokovic did in the first set? Just preparing my Murray mask (courtesy of the Daily Record) as he's on after Fed-Karlovic. 1423 : Yet another comfortable hold from Federer, with Karlovic showing his frustration at his failure to make an impression by throwing his arms in the air at 30-15. 2-2 there in the third. 1422 : I'm thinking of cutting and pasting 'still going with serve' for use with any Court One updates. 4-4 there in the second serve with just that solitary Haas break in the first set putting him in front. 1420 : Great touch from Karlovic as he produces a lovely drop shot off his toes en route to pulling 2-1 ahead with a love game. Still staring down the barrel, though. 1419 : Another love game on the Federer serve, capped off with a peach of a forehand as Karlovic chips and charges. 1-1 on Centre, with Fed 2-0 in sets and cruising. 1418 : Still no sign of a second-set break on Court One as Djokovic holds for 4-3. 1417 : Karlovic definitely feeling the effects of both a hot day and being 2-0 down to the great man here - shoulders hunched as he returns to his chair. 1416 : Now 3-3 on Court One as they still go with serve in the second set. Haas one set up though so it's him in the driving seat. 1415 : Double dose of bad news for the British youngsters - in the girls' draw, champion Laura Robson now a set down after losing it 6-2 to Quirine Lemoine. World No 2 against World No 65 in that one so certainly a shock brewing. Wonder if Robson is struggling with that back injury still. 1414 : Tom Farquharson, the last Briton in the boys' singles, has just lost in straight sets to third seed Bernard Tomic. The Australian is tipped for a big future in the game, so no disgrace there. 1413 : Still at least Karlovic can take solace from his record in five-set matches. Or maybe not. He's 0-11 in matches going the distance. 1412 : Federer holds to 15 to wrap up the second set and greets it with a Lleyton Hewitt-style 'Come on!' This is great stuff from the Swiss - Karlovic banging down the aces but Federer has been more of a threat on his serve than vice versa. 6-3 7-5. 1411 : Have to admit I've neglected the Djokovic match as we've approached the business end of the second set in Federer's match. 3-2 Djokovic there on serve in the second set. 1408 : Karlovic misses with his first serve, always worrying, and two backhands from Federer force the error. That's a break for the Swiss and what a time to get it. 6-5 and he'll serve for the second set. 1407 : Another lovely backhand return from Federer takes him to 15-40 on the Karlovic serve. 1406 : Djokovic holds for 2-1. Not much between the two players there with one break enough to decide the first set and three holds already in the second set. Competitive stuff. 1405 : Another Federer service game goes to love. 5-5 in the second now with the Swiss already a set up. 1403 : It's become more about speed than competition on the Karlovic serve now. He's just gone 5-4 in the second set with one measured at 138mph. 1402 : Haas made to work in his first service game of the second set but holds to 30. 1-1 there. 1401 : The Williams sisters are still yet to lose a set at this tournament - they've just reached the women's doubles semis with a straight-sets victory. 1400 : Awesome from Federer - could be famous last words but if anything it's his serve that looks more unbreakable. That said, it could only take one break to decide it in the tie-break. 1359 : Djokovic may have ceded the first set to Haas, but it's gone to plan for him in his first service game in set two. 1-0 there. 1359 : Karlovic digs deep from 0-30 down and holds serve. He's 4-3 up now having lost the first set to the No 2 seed. 1358 : We're told Robson has had treatment for a back problem. If anything, though, the break seems to have affected her opponent more as Robson's just got one of the breaks back. 1357 : Just when it looked as though Federer was looking good, Karlovic bangs down two huge serves to level it up. Things definitely not going to plan for Laura Robson, though, she's just had some treatment from the trainer. Still trails 0-3. 1356 : Meanwhile, back on Centre, Federer has Karlovic 0-30. 1355 : Experience getting the better of youth on Court One thus far with Haas, the oldest man left in the draw, taking the first set against Djokovic, the youngest, 7-5. 1352 : Federer takes another game on serve - just the one point for Karlovic this time. 3-3 second set. 1351 : Haas converts the break point, forcing Djokovic to dump one in the net. 6-5 Haas and he'll serve for the first set. 1350 : Break point Haas on Court One - the first of the match...and what a time. 1349 : Karlovic might be struggling on the Federer serve but there's no such worries on his thus far in the second set - another hold to love makes it 3-2 to the big man as he looks to level us up. 1348 : Bad news from Court 18 - Laura Robson has already fallen a double break down. She trails 3-0 in the first set. 1347 : Federer holds to love - he's given up just five points on his serve so far and Karlovic looks baffled as to how to deal with it. 1346 : Haas hits the deck momentarily after slipping out on the forehand side. Winces as he does so but is soon back to his feet. He's had a few injury problems down the years. 1345 : Serve definitely holding sway on Court One - now 5-5 as Haas holds to love. Tie-break written all over it. 1344 : Karlovic definitely in the groove on his serve now - 2-1 up in the second set with a comfortable hold. 1342 : British youngster Laura Robson gets under way in her girls' singles last-16 clash with Quirine Lemoine on Court 18 as Djokovic holds to love for 5-4 against Haas in the first set. 1341 : Federer levels it up in the second set. Much more competitive from Karlovic, though, which bodes well for him. Now 1-1 in the second set with Federer having taken the first. 1339 : Routine for Haas on serve - a love game makes it 4-4 on Court One. 1338 : Karlovic takes the first game of the second set on serve. Quick look at the stats reveals it was only 3-2 Karlovic on the ace front in the first set, though as Federer has such a good record against Andy Roddick, another big server, maybe we shouldn't be surprised at how comfortable he's looked so far. 1337 : Having got under way earlier than Centre, Court One is now quite a distance behind - Djokovic has just taken another game with serve for 4-3. 1335 : Quite brilliant from Federer as another love game on his serve - finished with a beautiful cross-court backhand from deep - sees him take the set 6-3. He's lost just three points on his serve all set! 1334 : Haas not troubled on his serve as the score goes to 3-3 on Centre. 1333 : Karlovic might don the shades full-time if that last game is anything to go by - solid as a rock from 0-15. 5-3 Fed, who is now serving for the set. 1332 : Now 3-2 Djokovic on Court One. Still going with serve in what looks like a hard-fought rematch of the Halle final, which Haas won. 1330 : A rare sight this - Janko Tipsarevic wears prescription glasses when he plays but we can't recall this happening often, particularly on Centre. Wonder what the members make of it... 1329 : Karlovic obviously struggling with the sun - he's donned the shades after going 0-15 down in this one. 1328 : Now 2-2 on Court One as Haas holds serve. 1326 : Karlovic closes out the game but then fails to make an impression on Federer's serve - a love game this time as the Swiss goes 5-2 up. 1324 : Still going with serve on Court One as Karlovic just begins to settle in with a second-serve ace back on Centre. 1321 : Federer consolidates the break. If anything it's Karlovic struggling to cope with his serve at the moment. 1320 : Incredible. Early break for Federer against the seemingly unbreakable Karlovic serve. Brilliant forehand from Fed to take the game. 3-1 to the Swiss and he's right up for this. 1319 : Federer in tremendous nick here - great backhand return from a booming Karlovic serve makes it 15-40. 1318 : Haas holds his nerve to level things up on Court One. Just to let you know there's been a change in the 'commentary box' with Reece Killworth replacing Andy Schooler. Emails now to reece.killworth@bskyb.com 1317 : Great forehand from Federer returning a Karlovic second serve, followed up with a well-constructed point to make it 0-30. 1316 : Deuce on the Haas serve in game three on Court One. 1315 : Federer looking good on his serve - game three goes his way and he's lost just two points on his serve so far. 1314 : Love game for Karlovic to open his account. What odds the tie-break at this stage? 1313 : Djokovic takes the first game on One just as Karlovic unleashes a booming serve to take the first point of his service game. 1312 : Federer on the board with the first game. Probably goes without saying but the real test, though, will be on Karlovic's serve. 1311 : Wild return from Karlovic to Federer's first serve, so the Swiss is off and running. 1311 : Federer just about to get us under way on Centre. Play... 1310 : Great start from Djokovic, smacking a peach of a forehand cross court for the first point of the game. A nice nerve-settler. 1309 : Court One running slightly ahead of Centre - Djokovic just about to get things under way serving first. 1304 : Knocking up now on both of the show courts. Lucky these boys are young and fit - it's a sweltering day. 1300 : Bang on time, the players come out - Federer and Karlovic on Centre Court, Haas and Djokovic on Court One. Murray plays after Federer remember. 1255 : Remember, any comments or questions can be sent to us - andy.schooler@bskyb.com. We are almost ready for action on the showcourts. 1245 : With the sun shining, the action is already under way on the outside courts with doubles and juniors matches taking place. A couple of matches to look out for from a British perspective today around the grounds are the mixed doubles third-round clash involving Jamie Murray and partner Liezel Huber. They take on sixth seeds Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the third match on Court Four. In the girls' singles, Laura Robson continues the defence of her junior title. She's in third-round action today against Holland's Quirine Lemoine. Not long to wait for that one as she's second on Court 18. 1240 : The fact I've not mentioned the weather yet says it all. It's taken as read this year that it's sunny and sure enough that's the case again. The expected high is 31 degrees Celsius with only a small chance of a shower. Unfortunately the forecast does suggest rain is more likely for the weekend finals. 1230 : Any thoughts on today's action or indeed yesterday's ladies' matches? If so, you can email me - andy.schooler@bskyb.com - and I will publish the best right here. 1225 : Those with tickets for Court One today will be happy as they have two potential crackers to look forward to. First up is fourth seed Novak Djokovic against Tommy Haas. This is a rematch of the recent final of the Halle grasscourt tournament, a match Haas won in three sets. Djokovic will doubtless be out for revenge but Haas is in great form right now. You may have seen him come within touching distance of beating Roger Federer at the French Open recently and since that defeat he's won all nine matches he's played on grass. I've not seen much of Djokovic at these championships, but I'd suggest he will have to be up near his best to win today. They are followed on to court by 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt and two-time runner-up Andy Roddick. I fancy Hewitt in this, providing he's recovered from an injury he suffered on Monday. Roddick was impressive in beating Tomas Berdych in round four, but Hewitt is a better returner and will fight to the death. Hewitt leads Roddick 6-5 in their head-to-head, but Roddick has won both of their grasscourt meetings as well as the last four. It could be a classic. 1215 : Murray and Ferrero must first wait for Roger Federer and Ivo Karlovic to duel it out on Centre. They get under way at 1300 BST. Karlovic is an obvious danger with his massive serve which has yet to be broken at these Championships - in fact his faced just four break points and all of those were in the first round. Even for a man who serves 'out of a tree' he's serving superbly at present and Federer will have his hands full. However, the Swiss does hold an 8-1 win-loss record against the 6ft 10in Croat so history says he can cope with the ace barrage Karlovic is sure to provide. I saw yesterday Federer was praising Karlovic's all-round game - he's not just all about the serve he says - but personally I doubt he would be inside the top 100 if he were only 6ft tall. On virtually all the ATP Tour's return-of-serve stats he's down around the 70 mark which shows Federer should not have too many problems holding himself. Expect tie-breaks and this one! Federer showed against Robin Soderling on Monday how well he plays the big points and he will need to do so again today. Logic says Federer will come through, but I have to admit I have a worry that Karlovic will cause him plenty of concern today. 1210 : OK, so Murray against Ferrero. You won't be surprised to hear Murray starts a hot favourite. Despite his problems in the previous round when he was taken the distance under the roof, he's odds-on to win today in straight sets. For those of you not familiar with Ferrero, he's a good player. His hey day was in 2003 when he won the French Open, reached the US Open final and spent several weeks as world number one. Injury problems soon knocked him down the rankings and he's not been the same player since. He's currently ranked a lowly 70 and needed a wild card to be here as his ranking was outside the top 100 a few weeks ago, meaning he missed out on automatic entry. However, he's certainly shown glimpses of his top form with his run to the last eight here and he's already beaten two top-10 players in Fernando Gonzalez and Gilles Simon. In short, he's definitely a danger. They've met only once before - and that was at Queen's Club a few weeks ago. Murray had few problems on that occasion and I'd expect him to progress today. 1200 : Welcome to our coverage of day nine of Wimbledon - men's quarter-finals day. Of course, all eyes will be on Andy Murray later - he's second on Centre Court against former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero. We'll preview that clash and all the day's other action soon, but first if you have any comments on yesterday's ladies' singles action, please send them to me: andy.schooler@bskyb.com. The Williams sisters look simply unstoppable don't they? Having taken the 4/1 about them both reaching the final, I'm cheering them on!
