Netball Month on Sky Sports excites Superleague trio

Sportswomen speaks to Manchester Thunder captain Sara Bayman and Yorkshire Jets' new signing and captain Stacey Francis as Sky Sports' Netball Month kicks off

Netball Month was launched at Sky Studios on Tuesday ahead of what promises to be the biggest ever season for the sport in this country.

Sky Sports will show a live match from every round of the Netball Superleague this season, as well as both semi-finals and the final.

We also have live coverage of each game of this month's triple header against Australia, followed by Super Saturday at Birmingham's Genting Arena, featuring eight Superleague teams and more than six hours of live netball.

England internationals Sara Bayman, Sasha Corbin and Stacey Francis joined Jane Dougall on Tuesday's Sportswomen show on Sky Sports News HQ and the trio admit there is plenty of excitement around Netball Month.

"It's just so good to have a full month on Sky Sports dedicated to netball," Bayman said.

"It's brilliant to get that kind of media coverage. We've got Super Saturday and the internationals coming up. There's a lot happening so for Sky to really get on board and give us this much coverage is really fantastic for netball."

Loughbrough Lightning mid-court player Sasha Corbin added: "It's fantastic that Sky are showing us all month and I hope it encourages many women and girls to get involved.

"Make it a New Year's resolution - go back and play netball, even if you haven't done it for 30 years, just give it a go. I hope we can inspire some people to go out there and give it a go and enjoy our sport the way that we do."

Tamsin Greenway says netball is a great end-to-end game and she is looking forward to the numerous events planned during Sky Sports' Netball Month

Yorkshire Jets skipper Francis added: "It [Super Saturday] is really exciting. You get to see everybody play at once, which as players you don't get the luxury of doing.

"For the fans and supporters to see all of the matches and see where every team is at for the start of what is going to be the best season ever is awesome. And it is in Birmingham - I'm excited about that because I am a Brummie, don't forget!"
