Sheamus’ League of Nations scuppered Roman Reigns’ hopes of regaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Monday’s edition of Raw.

Reigns was granted the chance to win back WWE's richest prize in Pittsburgh on the proviso that he do so in under five minutes and 15 seconds, the length of the Juggernaut's title reign before Sheamus cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to become champion at Survivor Series.

The former Shield star seemed on course to beat the clock when he set Sheamus up for a spear but before he could connect, Rusev, Bad News Barrett and Alberto Del Rio interfered to cause a disqualification and ensure the strap remained around the Irishman's waist.

Reigns' night got worse when he was Brogue Kicked by Sheamus following Raw's main event, in which he teamed with Dean Ambrose and The Usos to face Sheamus, Rusev, Barrett, Del Rio and The New Day.

The Big Dog, however, will fight Sheamus for the world Title again in a Table, Ladders and Chairs match on December 13, on the same evening Ambrose meets Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship and The New Day defend their tag belts against The Usos and The Lucha Dragons.

Rusev and Del Rio's participation in the show-ending bout was not their only in-ring action on Raw, with the former losing to Ryback via count after tending to injured fiancée Lana and the latter defeating Goldust before unleashing a post-match attack that Jack Swagger felt compelled to quell.
