Dean Ambrose finally became No 1 contender to AJ Styles' WWE World Title - as James Ellsworth turned from hindrance to helper.
Ellsworth's Superkick to Styles on last week's episode of Smackdown caused Ambrose to lose his match against the champion via disqualification and, with it, a shot at the belt.
However, Ellsworth rushed to the squared circle on Tuesday's show, despite being banned from ringside by Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan, to play a key role in Ambrose's win.
The 31-year-old, who had earlier apologised to The Lunatic Fringe for last week's error, was speared over the announce desk by Styles but the distraction allowed Ambrose to hit a match-sealing Dirty Deeds.
Ambrose will now get the opportunity to regain the title he lost to Styles at Backlash in September when he meets The Phenomenal One in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match on Sunday, December 4.
Elsewhere on Smackdown, Randy Orton overcame Kane in a No Disqualification Match, with his seemingly new-found allies, Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper, lending a hand.
Wyatt and Harper attacked The Big Red Monster mid-match, weakening him enough for Orton to secure a victory courtesy of an RKO, the move he blasted Kane with last week.
Orton then presented Kane to Wyatt, who laid out the veteran with Sister Abigail before he, Harper and Orton posed in the ring.
Alexa Bliss pinned Becky Lynch, a week before she attempts to prise the Dubliner's Smackdown Women's Title in Glasgow.
Plus, Dolph Ziggler successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship with a swift win over Curt Hawkins - before issuing an open challenge to anyone on the Raw roster at Survivor Series.
