"It's an honour for Ricky and me to go into the Hall of Fame," Gibson told CBS Sports. "We always knew business is business and we did our job. I'm just happy to say [Ricky is] my best friend."

"I know we're not blood brothers, but we are brothers," Morton added. "I love him as much as I do any of my brothers. We became family - we've walked through gardens, and we've walked through graves together."

The Rock 'n' Roll Express, famed for their flowing hair and vibrant in-ring clothing, formed in Jerry Lawler's Memphis-based territory in the early 1980s before heading to Mid-South Wrestling.

Morton and Gibson won that promotion's Tag Team Titles on three occasions, engaging in a heated rivalry with The Midnight Express aka Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey.

The Rock 'n' Roll Express have scooped many other titles during their careers, including the National Wrestling Alliance World Tag Team Championships and Smoky Mountain Wrestling tag belts.

Morton and Gibson also teamed together at three early editions of the Starrcade pay-per-view, with a Scaffold Match against The Midnight Express in 1987 a particular highlight.

The duo, whose other opponents included The Four Horsemen, battled the Heavenly Bodies at WWE Survivor Series in 1993 and The New Midnight Express at Unforgiven: In Your House in 1998.

The Rock 'n' Roll Express' only WrestleMania appearance came in 1998, when they competed in a 15-team battle royal against the likes of The Legion of Doom and Nation of Domination.
