Kassius Ohno says he hopes to become "the face" of NXT after returning to WWE following a three-year absence.
Ohno was released from his WWE contract in December 2013 but made his televised comeback last month, confronting NXT Champion Bobby Roode.
The 37-year-old told WWE.com that Roode's title is his top target but that he also wants to make NXT the best wrestling show in the world.
"My focus is zeroed in on the NXT Championship," said Ohno, a former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Combat Zone Wrestling World Champion. "It is something that I don't just want, it's what I need.
"I plan to become the face and ambassador of NXT. I want to bring the absolute best in-ring action all over the world.
"I knew I didn't have to come back to prove myself to anyone. What I need [to do] is to come back and accomplish all the things I failed to accomplish my first time here.
"I'm smarter. I've matured and I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I'm more comfortable and I know my worth.
"I never really entertained the thought of what it would be like if I were to come back, [even though] I was told that the door wasn't closed.
"Eventually, someone reached out to see if I was interested in returning. After a bit of deliberation, I decided that it was something I needed to do.
"Everyone has been so welcoming, and the environment is a very positive and inspiring one. I'm extremely excited at the possibilities."
