Following her match with Nia Jax on Raw, a battered and bandaged Bayley tries to articulate what's next for her with the status of her shoulder in jeopardy

Bayley's participation at SummerSlam is in doubt after suffering a shoulder injury.

The 28-year old needed a scan after picking up the problem during her match against Nia Jax on RAW but awaits further news.

Swelling to the shoulder has prevented WWE doctors from giving a full diagnosis, something they hope to rectify in the coming days.

"Everything just tensed up around it," Bayley told WWE.com shortly after getting medical treatment backstage on Monday.

Bayley was left holding her arm in an awkward manner after her match against Nia Jax on RAW

"I've never had an injury like this before, so I can't really know what it is. I guess we're gonna see."

Bayley is due to face Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women's Championship in less than three weeks at SummerSlam but her place in the match is now in doubt.

The No.1 contender appeared to be holding her arm awkwardly after the bout against Jax, which she won via count-out.

"We've determined the injury is shoulder-related, and she will be going under further diagnostic testing later this week to determine the extent of the injury and also establish a timetable for recovery," WWE's senior ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann said in a statement.

If Bayley fails to recover, then WWE will be forced to find a late replacement, with Sasha Banks and Nia Jax the likely candidates.
