SmackDown: Carmella wins women's title after Charlotte Flair attacked
Wednesday 11 April 2018 09:07, UK
Carmella cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase and won Charlotte Flair's title on the SmackDown after WrestleMania, live on Sky Sports Arena.
Miss Money In The Bank capitalised on an attack by the debuting Iconic Duo of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, who had left the champion down and out after a prolonged beatdown.
Having failed on three previous occasions to cash in the briefcase she won in June 2017, Carmella made it fourth time lucky with the match ending just a couple of seconds.
A clearly under-strength Flair made it to her feet only to be downed with a superkick for a three-count and an end to her near five-month title reign.
Paige named as general manager
Just 24 hours after confirming her retirement from in-ring competition on Raw, Shane McMahon confirmed Paige will replace Daniel Bryan as SmackDown's general manager.
To a enormous reaction from the crowd, Paige came to the ring to meet McMahon, who has accepted Bryan's resignation from his previous role to allow him to focus on wrestling.
Paige's first task was to book a match for that evening's show - between Bryan and WWE champion AJ Styles.
Nakamura interrupts Styles-Bryan
AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan were in the midst of a contest which was meeting all of the expectations one such collision between two workers of their calibre had.
It lasted more than 10 minutes before an interruption from Shinsuke Nakamura, who gave both men Kinshasa knee strikes and twice nailed Styles with a low blow.
With the superstar shakeup taking place next week, will Nakamura be taken away from Styles and sent to Raw? And will the WWE universe get to see Styles and Bryan square off again?
