Just heard a rumour that scares me as a Liverpool fan: Arsenal have contacted the MSI group that currently own Javier Mascherano. Apparently, he has only one year left on his loan deal at Liverpool who don't have the rights to the player. If Arsenal were to succeed in a 20 million bid for him, Liverpool can expect minimal compensation (3-5 million) or have to face losing him for nothing next season. Arsenal see him as the perfect replacement for Flamini, and also know that it would damage Liverpool's transfer activity. We are trying to raise funds by selling Alonso, who we would have to keep at the club if Mascherano were to leave. This would mean that we could only afford one of Robbie Keane and Gareth Barry. We might be forced to buy a cheaper alternative to one of them.

Hopefully, the Keane thing is just a ruse to get valencia to lower the price on Villa a little. My mate at Anfield says it was more or less a done deal until Villa got the hat-trick and they put price up. They wanted the same as we paid for Torres which seems fair enough, but they need most the fee upfront .

I have heard that Villa have rejected Liverpools 16 million pound bid for Barry and that liverpool are going to try buy David Silva. Keane is not the one to be buying if we want to win the title,we should be buying the likes of David Villa.

I have been in close contact with a reliable source at Goodison Park and he informs me that Sunderland's Paul McShane has been seen discussing a five year contract with the Toffees. The transfer fee is rumoured to be in the region of £9-10 million. I have also heard that Everton are closely monitoring both David Leray and Barry Beard in the hope of signing them in the coming days.

I may be in a minority here looking at the comments of most Liverpool fans but I think Keane and Barry would be great signings for Lliverpool. Our spine is as good as anyones and we're not that far away from having a team to challenge for the title. Barry and keane are both in or approaching their prime, highly intelligent players who would be able to adapt to different systems during a game. I do agree that we should do everything to keep Finnan and Alonso though. If its a wage bill thing then surely the likes of Vonorin should be the first out.....he doesn't do it against the best opposition sadly.

Stoke will sign Fulop from Sunderland, and lots of rumours about Sean Davies from Pompey and Mustapha Riga from Levante as we are desperate for someone to play on the left. Also another striker in, not sure who tbh... could be Nugent, but more likely someone from a foreign club.

I have heard that Bristol Rovers striker Coles is a near definate in for Plymouth and the two clubs are struggling to agree on a fee for the player. Is he really good enough to play at Plymouth.

Why can't Sunderland but anyone right now? Roy Keane's was on a flight to Portugal today - perhaps he's off to but someone there. I'm a bit miffed, we're gonna struggle again, I believe he has no pulling power. 4 Spurs players at the trainng ground yesterday but no announcements, the only earthquakes are players getting away from the region!

Newcastle should move for Shaun Wright-Phillips and Bid 6.5m. The other player Newcastle should bid for is Torsten Frings He is a class player and would be a big signing for us.

Darren Carling says...
I hear from a reliable source that Manchester City are re-signing Shaun Wright-Phillips. Also Sunderland to sign Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

So, will someome please tell me why we sold crouch and then go and try to buy Keane?? if you sell a striker at least try to replace him with someone better. keane might of been good, but he is past his best and wont improve the team. there are any strikers out there who are better, if you want the title buy one. Dont waste money on what a player has done in the past, but what a player will do in the next 3 seasons.

Please somebody agree with me when I say that Robbie Keane is not nearly good enough to be a Liverpool player. It's laughable! I don't rate him at all and certainly not when we are supposed to be challenging for the League this year. To spend £25 million on him when we could be going after Villa is just mind-boggling! Villa has made it known that Liverpool is the only English club he would consider coming too so why not spend the money on a class player like him. We broke the bank for Torres last summer but his contribution has been priceless. Do it again Rafa - leave the average players scoring goals for average teams and bring in the top guns!!

Adam Holly (Liverpool fan) says...
20 million on Robbie Keane, what a waste of money. He is 27 years old, and rafa paying all that money, what a waste. Rafa should buy good young players. liverpool have not won the title for many years, this is because they do not have a world class winger. Man united, arsenal, chelsea have all got good wingers to provide opportunities for strikers, and thats why they won the title. 20 million on keane, another year without a title. Liverpool fan.

Aled Lewis (Liverpool fan) says...
dont think rafa should sell alonso or voronin. alonso has proven that he is class and i believe that he is way better than barry. maybe i have missed something but i dont see what the fuss is all about with barry, granted he is a good player but not good enough to cause such a fuss that rafa is willing to get rid of finan who is a solid defender. and i believe that voronin is also way unerrated, he has had some injuries last season, but when he has had a chance to play he has shown some class. e.g great goal in the last friendly. obviously the oposition were'nt great but i think he is a good player. in saying that i think that keane would be a great signing and maybe a good right winger would be a great addition c'mon the reds

Paul Carty (Celtic fan) says...
Reference David Reynolds, is McFadden joining Sunderland or Celtic on loan, would love to se him at Parkhead playing for Celtic. Hope Strachan splashes the cash on some quality players in the next few weeks, need a centre half, left back, creative midfielder and a striker. I reckon if Arsenal could do a swap deal with Barcelona for Adebayor and Eto'o, would be a brilliant piece of business. Hope Everton sign some quality players otherwise players like Lescott & Arteta will become disillusioned and be prised away from Goodison Park.

John Flynn (Aston Villa fan) says...
Regarding comments from Shane Sherbourne .You are absolutely right. We should sell an integral part of our squad to Liverpool for exactly the price they want.We should apologise for making such a fuss of the fact that Benitez,s underhand tactics have now made it practically impossible for Barry ever to play for Villa again even if the transfer falls through. We certainly should not presume to ask for a player that we would like as part of the deal to compensate for the sale of a player we never, ever wanted to get rid of, as after all, we are talking about Liverpool here. We should roll over on our backs, keep quiet, and pay for Barrys oneway ticket to Lime street station and leave the fee up to Señor Benitez to decide. £10 and a box set of "Beatles "albums should cover it....if that's OK with you ?

Tom Kieran (West Ham United fan) says...
What a joke that we are paying playing such as dyer and neil 70-80k a week curbs is refusing to put without a doubt are best player Rob Green on a better contract, it doesnt matter that he signed a new deal last year because he saying he wants to stay just wants more money which is fair enough because he deserves it if west ham want to become a 'champs league' club we need to keep are bes players and ship out the dead wood such as neil!!
