Richard Fahey with a horse by horse guide to his Saturday runners

Eastern Impact: Can he bounce back? (Sal Smithson: www.richardfahey.com)

Richard Fahey gives us a horse-by-horse guide to his Saturday runners including a strong team at Haydock.

Eastern Impact goes for Group One glory in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock.

He ran a blinder to finish third in the July Cup and I was delighted to see him back that up and win at Chester last time.

He's been working really well in the build-up to this and we are now treating him like a very good horse at home. I think he'll run well, but whether that's good enough to win at this level remains to be seen.

The Betfred Mobile Old Borough Cup is always a good race and this year's renewal is just as competitive as ever.

We rode Angel Gabriel wrongly in the Ebor last time, we were too forceful. We'll use more restraint this time but he's still paying the price for a great season in 2014 and is badly handicapped. We need to restore his confidence.

If Gabrial's Star brings his Chester form from last time to the race he'd have an each-way chance. It's a race I like but always a tough one to win.

Also See:

We probably made too much use of Ballesteros early at Newmarket in his last race. He's in good form ahead of the Betfred TV Be Friendly Handicap and any rain would help.

Donjuan Triumphant has run OK in his three starts to date. The handicapper hasn't taken any chances with an opening mark of 83 for the Betfred Goals Galore Nursery but he is a good, hardy horse who stays this trip well.

Celebration also runs here. He was disappointing earlier in the year but has really come good on his last two starts. The way he stayed on to win at Carlisle and Sandown would suggest the sixth furlong won't be an issue and he'll run well.

Pin Up is a horse I've always wanted to run over a mike-and-six and we get to try it in the Betfred 'Be Part Of The Action' Handicap.

I think the trip will help her and we've stuck cheek pieces on as she can be a bit lazy. She doesn't show a lot at home, the staying horses rarely do, but I'm happy with her and I'll be interested to see how she goes.

Thirsk now and Dolphin Vista in the division one of the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes. He ran well first time but boiled over at Windsor on his only subsequent start, losing the plot. It didn't happen for him there but we hope he can get back on track closer to home here.

Cotton Camera has to step up on what she's shown so far in the Jenny Roberts Original British Millinery Nursery. That said she shapes as if a mile will suit and if she does get it well she could still run well.

Third Time Lucky had a minor setback since his last run, nothing serious just a twinged muscle behind. He's worked really well this week ahead of the Personal Touches Celebration Handicap and I'd like to see him back to winning ways. He'd have every chance on the form of his most recent start at Glorious Goodwood.

We've two runners in Ascot's Bibendum Wine Ltd Handicap. Lexi's Hero has just been a little frustrating – and unlucky – in the same measure. He was nearly brought down at Chester last time so forget that and this is a dangerously well handicapped horse in good form.

Right Touch is what he is. He's in great form, I'm very happy with him, and with a £30,000 pot on offer I'm pleased to let both take their chance.

Our final three runners are all at Wolverhampton.

Gabrial The Thug loves the place. He's been a little disappointing on turf but a return to Dunstall Park will suit him in the Tican At The Races Apprentice Handicap and he'll run his race.

Bint Kodiac has disappointed on her two starts to date but both were on soft ground. I'm coming here with her for a better surface and in the hope she proves she's worth carrying on with. I hope she is and she goes in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Our final declared runner is Modernism in the Tican Chilled 15 Year Celebration Handicap. He runs at Haydock on Friday so we'll have to see how he goes there and how he comes out of the race but he is another who likes the track here.
