Verdict

BRIO CONTI was a 25/1 chance when winning at Ascot in February but showed that was no fluke with a fine fourth off a 5lb higher mark in last month’s Coral Cup. He’s been raised a further 2lb but looks the one they all have to beat in this with the sharper track in his favour. Canardier was only half-a-length behind at Cheltenham and is a pound better off so rates the danger while Admiral Barratry could go well at much bigger odds nearer the foot of the handicap. Apart from when finding 3m too far in a Grade 2 at Haydock, Lucy Wadham’s novice has been running well since opening his account at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Esprit Du Large looks to be on an upward curve and Push The Tempo would have each-way claims on the pick of his form. The selection’s stablemate Mont Des Avaloirs also warrants a mention but this is a big ask for Kobrouk after nearly two years on the sidelines. Sternrubin should be prominent and is preferred to Wait For Me of the two Hobbs runners.
