Desert Sea may be able to get back on track here and overcome the challenges of Greenwich Meantime and Empire Day amongst others. Desert Sea was very impressive when beating Whenever in a Sandown handicap on his seasonal reappearance and earned a tilt at the Northumberland Plate. He got bogged down in the heavy ground there but has sensibly been given plenty of time to recover from his exertions and could fare better here. Highland Legacy was favourite for the Newcastle race but was another to come unstuck in the ground and he will be expected to leave that form behind here and reverse the placings with Plate third Bogside Theatre. Greenwich Meantime finished with a flourish to take second behind Ebor fancy Wicked Daze in a race over course and distance where Enjoy The Moment and Caracciola spoiled their chances by racing too keenly behind a slow pace; both are on competitive marks. Empire Day was entitled to need his reappearance and ran well enough to indicate that he retains his ability; he wasn't beaten far behind Passage Of Time and Soldier Of Fortune in a French Group 1 in 2006 and has to be feared but we'll take a chance with Desert Sea.
