In depth

Verdict

CHEVETON and Fathom Five are closely matched on their running at Newcastle whilst Brenin Taran could also give a good account of himself. Matsunosuke ran a blinder at Sandown last week but he has a far better record at that track than this one and is far from guaranteed to reproduce that level of form. Sonny Red and Group Therapy have possibilities whilst confidence behind the chances of Hadaf would bring him into the equation. Rain would boost Equuleus Pictor's chances but Lochstar is in danger of becoming disappointing and is easy to pass over. Biniou won well at Thirsk and may still be on a workable mark but was held at Newmarket and preference is for Cheveton. He has track form, is competitively handicapped and is better than the bare form at Newcastle suggests as he was drawn on the wrong side. He was only half a length in front of Fathom Five there and Chris Wall's charge also has plenty to recommend him here but we'll take Cheveton to come out on top again.
